Well a new month is upon us.
Spotted a mainlander coach today operated by Buses 'R' Us from Broken Hill. Didn't manage a photo though... You definitely notice it hough, had MASSIVE lettering on the side.

BRU's main depot is Adelaide with sub depots at Balaklava and Port Augusta. However they do also operate an Adelaide - Broken Hill service and maintain a NSW accreditation with some vehicles on NSW plates.

Must have only just sold - it was in the offsite storage yard on Tuesday.
The ad is for multiple units, it may be another one.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations September 2012
Was informed last night that only (2) buses are still for sale. #514 AND #139. (However, IF #514 SOLD , only 1 left)
#708 has had motor removed to repair #710, so looks like #708 is destined for scrap also, rather than preservation.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations September 2012
I know there is more to it than meets the eye, but wouldn't you just keep 708 on the road and retire 710 lol? What ever happened with 705's motor?
Surely metro would be legends and donate 710 or 711

Age of vehicles - even if it is a few months. It looks better on paper when the older ones are retired and brings the average fleet age down more.danielb wrote:I know there is more to it than meets the eye, but wouldn't you just keep 708 on the road and retire 710 lol? 705 is still complete.
Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations September 2012
Surely if they donated 134(similar vehicles advertised for 16k) that they could donate another bus of pretty much no further use(considering there are now 2 artics for spare parts). I followed 708 up the ridge one afternoon, up and down the gears like a yoyo, so thats probably a bit stuffed too.
Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations September 2012
That just comes down to the driver at the time. They can be locked into a gear to prevent them doing that.danielb wrote:I followed 708 up the ridge one afternoon, up and down the gears like a yoyo

Noticed today (and last week for that matter) that #655 has been fitted with Southport electronic destination from Busy BEE.

710 had also had the refurb - cloth seats etc, 708 had not. Preserve a little bit of pax comfort!yoda wrote:Age of vehicles - even if it is a few months. Just curious. what is the etc. I know it has cloth seats, BUT etc Cloth seats covers Metro "refurbishments". Could be a reason why so many are now starting to dieroyaltiger wrote:710 had also had the refurb - cloth seats etc, 708 had not. Preserve a little bit of pax comfort!
Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations September 2012
I don't want to be annoying here, however I only catch a max of 1 bus per 18 months. What route/time of day can I grab a ride in an artic? I live in Howrah so something coming out or into there would be awesome. The last one of those I rode on was aprox 1999 at Clarence High, makes me feel old ha!
I tried to grab one out of town a few weeks back but I was too late at 6.30ish apparently.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations September 2012
It changes so often it is hard to guarantee it.
When the schools return, there will probably be one on the 17:00 #615 from town.
A lot of the X1's in the afternoon are usually artic's, along with a few all stops.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations September 2012
When school retuns next week, the 0720 Rte.605 ex Camelot Park IS an artic. You may even be fortunate enough to get a NEW one HOWEVER, the Rte.605 goes to Glenorchy NOT the City and it's FULL of school kids. If you can wander up to the Shoreline, you'll have a bigger variety of services by artics. Pretty sure the ONLY artic FROM Camelot Park of a morning is the Rte.605 (but I may be mistaken)
