that annoying noise.

Post by Busnut704 »

Hi all, i was on the bus on the weekend. and heard that annoying squeeling sound. i reckon they where doing it for a good 10 minutes or more. i reckon it someone with a scanner and transmitter interfering on metro doing it delibertly to pee the drivers off. if i was driving and heard that noise i would turn it off they the people at metro or radio techs should track the person down.

Radio Communications ARE trying to track them down/. Doesn't only affect Metro, also Police, Ambulance & O'Driscoll.

Thanks Tas Bus Nut. I hear from a few its annoying and if the person/s doing it hope they cop a fine or something rather cause back in my old radio "CB" Days they use to track poeple down and pin point them Straight Away.

I am of the understanding that they have triangulated to a suburb, but that may have changed.
For all we know, the offender(s) may be mobile.

With the know-how and electronics experience you could build your own transmitter.
I built a scanner years ago from an American design. Their frequencies are different and I ended up with ABC936.....

police in general they are on a half analouge with digital system at the moment since 1996 but i dont reckon unless its metro police and o'driscoll and ambulance,Tas fire. Cause they (metro) UHF @ o'driscoll,Tas fire, Tas Ambulance, commercial VHF goverment frequencies. they could get into them if they knew the know how to  but police in generally i think they can listen but not transmitt.that why they introduced scanners. but my understanding is it ok to listen in to anything except mobile telephones which you can't nower-days anyway. and not transmitt on any bands unless approved by ACMA or Company organisation's who work for a bussiness who uses Two way Radio System. Hope they get on top of it thoe. fingers cross im sick of having to listen in to metro ands hear that annoying noise on my scanner.there my 5 cent worth for the day..

There are very specific rules about who can transmit what and on which frequency, especially if someone has purchased the rights to a frequency. It is not particularly hard to trace an analogue radio signal from an airplane, especially with HF and VHF.

I think it was only 2002 a class license was issued for land based low power UHF radios...

You listen at the wrong time of day.... happens when our radio use is higher (AKA middle of the day)

I think the opposite. Ken is loud, whilst Kent is quiet, however their voice only depends on how high the driver has the two-way. If you ever caught MY bus, you'd barely be able to hear the two-way transmissions.

And it depends if they're facing the microphone or yelling at the door

Yes he has been annoying us too, but not for a while.
He did for a little while start swearing over the radio which was annoying.

It is my understanding also that they have narrowed the area down a fair bit, I was told an area but I'm not going to share that in public...and I may have even been misinformed.
I hope they catch the bugger soon!
