Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations - Feb 2012
What a shame Bus #11 is heading up north. I remember riding on that when it was brand new with Hobart Coaches and I was a kid. If I remember, it had a ZF transmission (sounded a bit like a 200-series) and a slightly different 113 to the other Oranas - maybe mounted differently? Pity, that bus looked good.

This is pretty crook - some people are just so pathetic. Follows on some mindless vadalism on the National prior to Christmas.

That's why I like the idea of applying 240V to everything.royaltiger wrote:This is pretty crook - some people are just so pathetic. Follows on some mindless vadalism on the National prior to Christmas.
On another note, I saw 200 today. That is all.

Scania 113 VOV1's #130 and #133 left Springfield today for the last time. Earlier in the day they were stripped of fleet identifiers and side logos. They have been sold to Hazell Bros to be used as employee transportation to the Musselroe Bay Wind Farm project in the NE tip of the state. See Photos section for pics of 130
508 and 511 also left late this afternoon, sold to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation of Tas to be used as mobile Op Shops. They already have 521 for client transport. Has this been seen on the weekend Hobart Hopper?

Mobile OP SHOP!? If they offer bus rides, then I'll be happy to visit themroyaltiger wrote:508 and 511 also left late this afternoon, sold to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation of Tas to be used as mobile Op Shops. Just been worded up than 508 and 511 are on the side of the intersection of Pitcairn and Chapel Streets....
Haven't seen 521 doing the Hopper run.

The reason I asked is this extract from CP Tas's summer newsletter;yoda wrote:Haven't seen 521 doing the Hopper run.
Our transport section has grown and will soon start some new and exciting contracts, hopefully including the Satur-day “Cityhopper” which will trial for 6 months as an acces-sible shuttle between city car parks and Salamanca in Hobart

So far the HobartHopper service has been undertaken by Toyota Coasters. Haven't seen #521 in action yet.
Have just watched video on Mercury web-site regarding copper theft from Transport Museum IMO it's a very low act.

Observed #511 and another MAN bus lying idle in Chapel street this morning (just up past the Pitcarin St roundabout).

#310 has LOST it's AOA for Euro 5 compliant engine. #310 has had the AOA since NEW, advertising Scania's new Euro 5 engine, stating it was 3yrs ahead of it's time. Mind you, that was almost 4yrs ago, so it's about time it was removed (or at least revised)

The other would have been 508. Both sold to Cerebral Palsy Tasmania for coversion to mobile Op Shops.smurftums wrote:Observed #511 and another MAN bus lying idle in Chapel street this morning (just up past the Pitcarin St roundabout).
The removal was no doubt hastened by accident damage to panels that were covered in the AOA. Appropriate now that it is one year BEHIND the times!Tas Bus Nut wrote: Mind you, that was almost 4yrs ago, so it's about time it was removed (or at least revised)

Gee, no one has made mention of the fast approaching end of the line to 502, 505 and 193?
All 3 are destined for the scrapyard....

I think someone had the idea of "let's empty that unused lane and use it for parking"

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations - Feb 2012
For those interested, I have recently returned from a BCSV TOUR in Melbourne where we visited numerous bus depots/companies. Some photos have been downloaded to the VIC Photo Section, but I will bring along the remaining pics on our NEXT meeting for you to see. One surprising bus (coach) that I saw, was this Volvo B10C/PMC Apollo, which is identical to the demo (later bought) Volvo operated by Tasmanian Motorways many years ago. Some, may remember

Ah if that is true then it is a last ever shot in service. I don't think it will see further service when it returns to Hobart.Z1-2110 wrote:514 in service yesterday. Have heard today is her last day in Burnie. I dunno if its true or not.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations - Feb 2012
Couple of BIG ships in port today - Radiance of the Seas & Voyager. Must have been short of tour coaches, as Crawns from Ridgley had THREE (3) coaches down for the ship. Saw them all parked @ Balmoral, but was in service (and they jumped up on me) so didn't get the chance for a pic O'D had #15 (with flashy new wheels) doing the shuttle. Unfortunately, work commitments didn't allow me access to the wharf at the right times for photo opportunity.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations - Feb 2012
Busy night for deckers in Hobart last night, observed.....
Fells Atlantean about 9.15pm in City
The lairish Fun Bus spotted outside the Carlyle 10pm and later in Main Road Moonah at 1.45am (presumable going home to get cleaned up)
Two of Gregory's Red Deckers were parked on the Brooker Highway at Glebe about 1.15am
Never seen so many on the road in one night.
