If they have the men and women, sure can make any sort of rolling stock.

The workshops used to build their own rolling stock and loco's over the years so can't see why they can't do it again and keep the money in the state where it's needed and jobs as well. After reading comments from others and Damien Whites comment in Tas section on Railpage perhapes it is something he should consider.

The old EBR here in Burnie, although a bit small. Be alright if the entire old EBR shops were owned by TasRail. Instead only a 1/4 is these days, rest are part of Caterpillar Underground.

Doubt it. the workshops is used for the servicing the X class wagon fleet. TasRail won't be making there own locos.

A big put off is the need to pay Aussie workers real wages, not rip them off.

However, as it is an open ended question, one can consider different scenarios:
# Commercial rail passenger service? Of course not, unless the main South Line was completely deviated between Brighton and Antill Ponds and the whole network was brought up to 80 - 100kmh plus speed average;
# Tourist services? Without Govt support for the insurance (P.L. & Network) issues - No; but if the insurance problem was solved - Yes, subject to appropriate marketing.

I really don't think there is much more that can be said on this topic?

Exactly AEC Regal, time to let it go, It will not happen.Maybe and a big maybe tourist trains at some stage but I wouldn't hold your breath.
