Tasmanian Bus Observations November 2010.
The start of another month and a new bus observations thread. As mentioned in a post in the Tasmanian Photo section Metro bus #141 one of the few remaining VOV Mk 1's has had the yellow front treatment. Observed it in Glenorchy Bus Mall this morning and noticed the the back of the bus has been re-painted as well. Looks better at the back than what it did before.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations November 2010.
do you think o'driscoll coaches will get any more proper coach like buses, I'd love to do a day or half day charter
Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations November 2010.
Nah, was a 2 axle. I doubt Peter will get any more coaches, certainly not new ones for quite a while if ever. As for charters, your turn will come!

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations November 2010.
Noticed an article in yesterdays "Mercury" regarding "Regional bus services receive funding boost". Tassielink are now operating more weekday and weekend services to and from Geeveston, Cygnet and Campania and Richmond. There is also extra services to Port Arthur and Bicheno/Swansea. The services are being funded for twelve months as a trial by the State Government. IMO it's up to the community to support these extra services if they want them to continue beyond that. It also gives tourists who don't have a car more options to get about the state. There was no mention of additional West Coast services.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations November 2010.
Youre right there Frosty, it is up to the people to support these services, the West Coast dose need a better service, used to have 6 services a week to Burnie and 5 a week to Hobart.I believe its 3 to to L'ton via Sheffield and 3 to Hobart. I am not sure if there is a service to Burnie these days, looking at Tassielink Timetable there dosent appear to be.

It is too! Happy birthday mate! In other news, Byrne's has just taken delivery of Tasmania's second Irizar, on a Mercedes O500R/OH1830 chassis. Two axle Century in white, 57 seats, ZF auto transmission. Got one photo of it before my camera batteries died, will post later from home. Also O'Driscoll Coaches unit 14 has arrived, latest model Mercedes O500/OH1830LE with Express body. Similar to unit 17, but this one is 13.5 metres and has a different seat layout with removable seats in th wheelchair area instead of folders and it has a driver's cab door, electric mirrors, reversing camera and a completely new dash cluster. Also has the latest 12 litre SCR Euro 5 engine not the old 7 litre EGR Euro 4. No signwriting on it yet, but it has been out and about today. Photos later.
