Tasmana's own redline double decker
Hi all
Just asking, what ever happen to this bus? I remember going to the truck show at Ulverstone long time ago and it was used for a few trips for the show goers. I remember back in 2000, it was stored in the Launceston yard, something about it being a bit unsafe. It was parked near a paint shed too. Can't remember where there yard was.
Also, who has pics of this thing when in service?
Cheers all Damien

Re: Tasmana's own redline double decker
It would be interesting to know what bus chassis it was as I know Redline had a few Denning Double deck coaches.
But I haven`t heard about this decker. I would like to know what chassis it was.

It was sold to Roadcoach in NSW (Ulladulla & Goulburn) as TV 2796 then TV 874. They then sold it to Pegasus in Sydney still as TV 874. They sold it to Roxby Downs Coach Lines SA who had the uranium mine contract. They lost this contract a couple of years ago to Greyhound and the coach was presumably sold at that time.

What it was used for was ideal, however NOT a great deal of room for luggage AND freight. Bugger loading luggage & freight into it (I tell you).Z1-2110 wrote:Ahhh, memories. I think its just not suited for Tasmania at the time.

Awesome coach to DRIVE though. Once it hit 2nd gear, it certainly got up and barked. Power in abundance!!! Only ever drove it once (unfortunately)

Started @ Devonport 0700 then over to the Spirit (+ Abel Tasman) then EXPRESS to Launceston 0900 ALL STOPS to Hobart by 1200stevegj52 wrote:It was used on Express to Burnie ex Hobart would that be correct Neil? I remember seeing it roaring up the midlands
1230 Hobart to Launceston ALL STOPS 1530 EXPRESS to SHIPSIDE Spirit of Tasmania (+Abel Tasman) then onto Devonport by 1700.
Double Decker only operated Monday to Friday. Landseers were used to/from BURNIE on weekends.
Brendan Woolley was the permanent driver of the DD. AFAIK, Brendan STILL works for Redline @ Devonport. Still see him occassionally.
