An interesting observation I noticed yesterday (31/12/2019)

There are some remaining remnants of the Metroline 400 and 410 signage within Sydney, located in Maroubra Jn, at the 400 bus stop towards Bondi Jn. (Anzac Parade near Boyce Rd, 2035186) They were each stickers on the side of the bus stop.

Sorry, I wasn't able to take a photo. :)

Also, Happy New Year 2020 to all.

Hope this is of interest to fellow readers, and viewers

Cheers

There is a stop up near Avoca St which has both MetroLink and CityLink signage on the canopy.

The outbound stop on Frenchmans Road also has the Metroline signage. Im surprised it hasn't been removed/souveineered.

Tony Eid ex Sydney Trains reported as taking over as CEO of STA effective today, and will see through the 18 months transition to franchised services for those regions.

Pretty sure there's quite a bit of old MetroLine signage, and that of former bus routes dotted around Sydney.
There's still signs referencing route 250 at Crows Nest, which if I'm not mistaken was withdrawn back in 1990 or some time around then?

Curious to know if STA is still recruiting for bus drivers? The recruitment signs are still on the buses and their site as of today.
I applied this morning at 9am but still have not got a reply (nearly 5 PM), even though I mentioned I am Australian PR, in my late 20s and available 5 days a week ongoing and with a clean driving record of multiple years. Not getting a reply worries me, should I continue to wait?

Side note - if anyone on the forum has Cities in Motion 2, message me, I can send you a Sydney file I made that has the entire Sydney bus network from Burwood - Sans Souci - City - Up to Manly south and Ryde/Chatswood (could not fit more due to map size restrictions in the simulator)

Cheers! :D

I think you are optimistic expecting a same day reply. Give it a week or so.

Give it up to a month I say. Public sector recruitment is generally slow, particularly for heavy volume roles like bus driver.

Sounds good, thank you for the reassurance that it may take a bit.
If anyone's interested I can only post screenshots of the Sydney simulator, I have second map as well from Palm Beach down to just the tip of the CBD but this also covers more in the north like Frenchs Forest and the area between Chatswood and Macquarie Park. Cities in Motion 2 is a bit limited unfortunately, I think with Cities Skylines one could make most of Sydney as a whole but that simulator requires an above average laptop/PC.

I would be interested to see screenshots - but I think needs to go to the appropriate thread;

Saw one of P's Scania VSTs (2763?) at Penrith interchange this afternoon (around 4:00 pm) laying over at where the Cooee Festival shuttle signs were (stand B) before NISing presumably back to P depot. I presume the STA got the honour of providing a shuttle bus for said festival...

Plenty of buses running over an hour late around Mascot and the surrounding suburbs this morning due to Airport Tunnel crash and closure. One person I know took over an hour from Banksmeadow shops to Green Square.

I had thought of that, but region 9 with the Uni of NSW and routes 891. 893 and 898 would be more likely for that. But the timetables for those three routes are often updated at the beginning/end of school terms, which do not coincide with Uni semesters.

The 501 may be rerouted into Rawson Pl like other services from TSA (422, 433, 436, 480 & 483) are meant to do so in the near future.

Could other changes be related to the North West Metro line and bus services between Epping and the Sydney CBD?

Seems 440 and M10 are using Rawson. Is the PID working?

501 does not seem to be changed to be rerouted via Rawson Place.
I checked 288 and 290 between Epping and the City and neither has any changes.

Minor correction to a school route and the 252.

Tried the 1356 service for Route 533 from Chatswood and I disembarked at Rhodes.

Very well loaded for a weekend. At no time was the bus any less than half load seated. In fact out of Chatswood it was 90% seated.

Those out of Chatswood gradually all disembarked, the majority along Mowbray Rd, but others continued to board. Around half of the passengers on board (20?) turned over at Top Ryde City as the bus continued south.

This route is probably due for a weekend frequency upgrade to every 15 min if it continues to grow like this. The section south of Rhodes is particularly pleasing as it was only introduced relatively recently as opposed to Route 534 which served the Chatswood - Ryde section previously.

The 533 was previously a peak-period only service but with the demise of the 534, the 533 ended up being a full-time route instead.

One thing they might need to address if frequency is increased on the 533 is that right hand turn from Pacific Highway to Mowbray Road (no right turn, buses excepted) since it would mean relatively more traffic getting blocked by a bus turning right there, given there are no green arrows for that turn nor a turning bay.
