Region 6 Electric Bus Pilot Project

Post by Stu »

Region 6 Electric Bus Pilot Project.

BYD is the manufacturer that will supply the 4 x vehicles.
The Carbridge TORO eBUS is the vehicle recommended by TfNSW although an electric vehicle of equivalent performance and quality can be purchased as long as both parties (TfNSW and TSA) arrive at an agreement.

Although I've yet to ride the Yutong, its design specification as a passenger carrier is much superior to the Carbridge Toro. Those huge steps up to a high floor at the back of the Toro are almost a show-stopper in a crowd. Now, we've also found out that the Yutong has apparently the same range as the Toro. Anyway I'll report more when I've had a ride.

Are these going to be the same as Canberra's fully electric bus?

Yes Canberra has a Carbridge Toro. I hope TSA will carefully consider and talk with Nowra Coaches too. I wouldn't rule out BYD with a suitable body but the Carbridge body is not the best for mass transit.
