Not quite true. They were all PMC prior to its demise.

Yeah, I meant their newest buses as in what had been delivered and started service for Punchbowl over the last couple of years, if not the past decade... well barring m/o809 that was refronted with a PMC face not too long ago after spending some time off following that crash while it was m/o 7241.

EDIT: Oh, that's a misplaced comma from me. I meant to say for their entire history they've avoided Bustech.

Thank heaven's Custom are still around, offering choice. Something sorely lacking in most industries in this age of monopolistic companies.
I'm pretty certain Punchie wouldn't remain a Bustech free zone for long otherwise. There's an inspiration for a sign out the front of the depot gates. You are about to enter a Bustech free sanctuary with a red circle and diagonal line across the Bustech logo :D .

Region 5 won't be a Bustech VST free zone if PBC loses the contract to anyone but CDC when region 5 goes to tender next

I notice the Hillsbus double deckers don’t run on the weekends anymore (perhaps coincided with the July changes) - bit of a pity!

M/O 6574 I think? a punchbowl custom Scania lost a body part at Penrith and Ran back out of service with pbc as it's destination looked like the remains of a tire on the passenger door side. This was on the T1 rail replacement.

Got to ride on two ex stationlink Optimuses today, both still looked as if they were fresh out of the factory but I have to say m/o 6848 as of this post was the one that stood out the most.

Some minor differences I've noticed compared to Thorntons original optimuses is that the seat frame seems to feel a bit slanted where as I don't think the 733X optimuses feature these. The stop button pole curves as it reaches the roof where as again the 733X optimuses don't IIRC.

They still have their Sydney run plates but are not in use

They still have their internal monitors but are not in use, just blank with a white screen and pink box. I figure if their to keep these they'll be set up to scroll through CCTV cameras like what we see on STA Buses. I'd like to see them list upcoming stops but I don't see that happening.

The Internal Volgren plaque is different. The ex stationlink ones have the text "VOLGREN, A Marcopolo company" and no Volgren logo where as the 733X series has Volgren logo centred first, then the word "VOLGREN" then "aluminium bus and coach bodies" text.

The "Bus stopping" box is to the right of the Monitor. I don't know if there's one in the plastic frame behind the monitor, I couldn't get a close look at it's tinted and the monitor blocks any chance of trying to see if there's a 2nd board fitted inside".

Fabric is different compared to other Optimuses.

The outside rear of the bus looks different. There seems to be some additional vents added where as the 733X series don't feature them.

They don't rattle a lot.... yet. lol.

Yeah, a particular thing of notice is the differences between the first batch of Optimus as opposed to the later batches like those two. That lower back slant on the seats for example. In fact, one other way to tell them apart with the CDC NSW Optimus is which fabric is in place; the blue seats of the first batch will have the straight frames while the black seats of all the following batches have the added slant.

The plaque, that has certainly changed after Marcopolo SA bought up the remainder of Volgren's stakes from the Grenda family back in April 2017, meaning the red Grenda 'G' logo has no longer been in use since then. Every Volgren built from April 2017 onwards will have the newer text-only plaques.

And if the monitor's in place, then there will not be a Bus Stopping box inside the frame. In fact, the recent STA/TSA Optima have the Bus Stopping box at the front above the dash like the older CR228Ls instead of inside the frame, something which I found rather interesting when I first stepped inside Ryde's 2924

I saw this CDC Travel bus that looked very Transdev and also a Transdev looking fleet number. The fleet number is 5625. I cannot find such record on Charterplus fleetlists. However, I remember the rego starts with TV.

Both. Plus the standard attributes that made the O405/510 combination so comfortable to drive. Sounded great too and well specced.

Would anyone know when the 3 new Transit Systems Hoxton Park double deckers will be entering service, and whether this means they might operate on routes other than the t80, potentially running all day?

Spotted TSA's new bus 8093 in service today at Campsie on a 412. It has a different window arrangement to the other STA buses, with no black edges on the windows and full height glass at the back, similar to STA's 4878.

Noticed recently turning into Grose Rd, Faulconbridge, that 5956 MO Blue Mountains Transit Scania K270UB Custom CB80 displayed Trolley Tours on its desto. Kinda weird, as Trolley Tours hasn't bee running since 2014, when it was discontinued. It displayed 'TROLLEY TOURS' on it front and side destos, and 'TT' on its rear desto.

Hope this of use to fellow readers, and viewers. :)

You'd be surprised what's still programmed into various operators destination units despite not being used anymore. Back in 2017 or so, some time after K/D took over STA Newcastle operations the buses still had their STA displays programmed into them "State Transit" "Newcastle Buses" for instance. I'd say since they've dropped the routes from 3 digits to 2 digits and overhauled over a lot of things that the old STA route files have since long been over-written when they uploaded the new files to the desto units which means now you won't see a out of service bus with "State transit" on it despite it now being a Newcastle Transport bus.

I've had some drivers show me what's programmed into the units despite not being of any use and a 0.1% chance of it actually maybe getting used at some point or displayed but that was a while back and I don't remember most of them. I do know one of the units had "ARMY" programmed into it but I've never seen that operator do anything with the Army. It's just there when the time comes I guess.
