The Transport for NSW Alert also includes those routes https://transportnsw.info/alerts/details#/6038334
20T4: Central, Martin Place then all stations to Bondi Junction and return
22T4: Central express to Bondi Junction and return
25T4: Town Hall express to Kings Cross then Edgecliff and return
324: City, Walsh Bay to Watsons Bay via Old South Head Rd
- Town Hall (Park St), Kings Cross, Edgecliff and return
325: City, Walsh Bay to Watsons Bay via Vaucluse Rd
- Town Hall (Park St), Kings Cross, Edgecliff and return
333: City, Circular Quay to North Bondi via Bondi Junction
- Town Hall (Elizabeth St), to Bondi Junction and return

And it is not the first time I have seen that.

Seems rather rare, as I haven't seen Tangaras on these lines for quite some time now, at all.
Here is Anytrip link: https://anytrip.com.au/region/nsw?followVehicle
Some of the locals certainly weren't use to the Tangaras, spotted 2 people trying to flip the seats.

333 for Bondi only I guess.

I've always done this given the ridiculous routes that the buses took to loop around Martin Place.
You'd be at Edgecliff on a 325, before the rail replacement got to Hyde Park

Can understand. The loops those routes take around the outer edges of the CBD is a bit long.

Also another new (and welcomed) observation is that the rail replacement buses have live tracking now?? I can see on NextThere there are some artics running on these routes, eg right now on route 22T4 (express from central to Bondi)

EDIT - but have not been on one to see if the Opal readers are switched on

So should they. It's now a TfNSW world, not just an isolated train world or bus world.

Could someone please advice of this please: A person claims that they are slight train timetable changes starting on Saturday 7 Sep 2019. (I think they mean Sunday 8 Sep 2019).

Is it common to see a lonesome locomotive reserving long distance with no hoppers or other locos attached? Because I was getting off at a station in the Maitland area yesterday only to see a loco go reversing past on the freight-line.

It was a Pacific National train to say the least, not too sure where it could've been going too by reversing such long distance as the frieght lines pretty much continue straight from where I got off at until near Hexham where the Aurizon support facility is. I wasn't anywhere close to Hexham so I can't comment where it may of possible been heading.

Which direction?

Positioning movements are usually attached to other trains to avoid crew costs, but this could be a substitute to replace a failed loco, or recover defective wagons.

Is this part of the "more peak hour express services for the Western line"?

I regularly catch the Lithgow service's next run from Central, and it never seems overcrowded when it arrives.
Someone kindly explained this for me, but I can't find the post now.

The 04.15 Lithgow-Central and 07.23 Central to Mt Vic have reverted to a 4 car roster since Tuesday.

Did a shunter come back from holidays?

I caught it on Tuesday, and I'm sure it was 8. Yesterday and today was 4. Didn't catch it on Weds, so can't comment.

Looks like the track bed of platform 11 at Redfern got a heavy pressure wash last weekend.
Back to looking like concrete rather than the usual black

The 0415 hours Lithgow to Sydney service is normally formed off Empty Cars "Starting" from Mt Vic, consist 4V. This then forms the 0723 hours West.
The 0723 hours Sydney to Mt Vic, on arrival at Mt Vic attaches to 4cars Standing, and returns to Sydney as the 1055 hours ex Mt Vic with 8V consist.
It would appear, from your earlier sightings, that the Empty Cars from Mt Vic to Lithgow, forming the 0415 hours service to Sydney, "Started" with an 8V consist.
Hence, the 0723 hours Sydney to Mt Vic also running with 8V consist.

Recently, there has been some Trackwork in Mt Victoria Yard, so the 8car working may have been to allow this work to be carried out at an earlier time in the morning.

Not the only one running as yesterday's shuttle set on the Carlingford line was K94, instead of the usual M set on a weekend. I noticed it was still running at 9:30pm too, which even if it occurred on a weekday would be unusual as the evening services are always normally an M set too.

There was some kind of TV advertisement or segment being filmed on platforms 1/2 at Clyde yesterday morning, perhaps it might have been related to a request from the producer. A notice stated that "train doors will be opening and closing continually due to filming however trains will depart at the scheduled time".

On Friday both of the shuttle sets during daylight hours were 4-car C sets, and Thursday had one K set & one C set running. Lots of rollingstock variation for a minor line ;)

It was the train that goes to the Holcim sand sidings.
I guess one of the loco's may have failed as it was connected up to 3 81 class locos at Penrith siding on the kingswood end.

More Opal gates are being provided at the eastern end of the Grand Concourse at Central, under the large TV screen.

T3 Bankstown Line stations between Campsie and Sydenham will temporarily close from 24 December 2019 to 5 January 2020 for upgraded metro standards. Trains will run between Campsie and Central via Regents Park and Lidcombe.
