Private Observations - July to December 2018

In TSA's new Scania Gemilang buses, they've thankfully begun disabling the robotic "Bus stopping, next stop" male voice that plays whenever someone presses the buzzer. Really started to grate after a while, Id've thought they couldn't have come up with a more irritating sound after the Bustechs trumpet fanfare (which sadly to this day still remains)

There was a strong rumour going around a couple of months ago that CDC were about to announce that all operations in NSW were going to be renamed something like CDC followed by a location name such as possibly Sydney, Newcastle and Blue Mountains similar to what has happened in Victoria, but that was deferred until a later date when Forest and Coastal Liner were taken over which threw a spanner in the works for the new names. A new corporate livery for non route buses was to be included with blue and white remaining for route buses. Until that is all sorted out, I dont expect to see any rebranding.

Interesting seeing a Coastal Liner bus up at Stockland Greenhills on Charter this morning, 2633 MO to be exact. This is the first I've seen CL up here in the Maitland area outside of Rail Replacement ever since CDC took over their operations

Fleet Lists wrote:A new corporate livery for non route buses was to be included with blue and white remaining for route buses.

I'd love to know what sort of Corporate livery they would be planing to go for, me hopes it's not an ugly one that isn't going to suit any of the buses in their fleet. Tho I'll admit I'm going to miss those clean canary yellow buses when the time comes to redo their branding

Fleet Lists wrote: CDC followed by a location name such as possibly Sydney, Newcastle and Blue Mountains similar to what has happened in Victoria

Someone said CDC Hunter might be a better candidate a couple of months back for their Hunter Valley operations and to be honest that'll fit well better as I only consider Newcastle to be area's like Mayfield, Adamstown, Kotara etc, not anything outside of that towards Maitland for instance. Edgeworth is the only HVB depot in "Newcastle" where this would make sense. I believe the Hunter region also covers Morriset and Toronto, your opinions differ to mine but If their going to rebrand call it CDC Hunter Valley. In the end they get to keep their "Hunter Valley" name and either drop or keep "Buses" at the end of their name.

I only said Newcastle of the cuff to use an example. It could just as easy be Hunter Valley.

It's interesting to see how Transdev uses double deckers when there is barely anyone riding them.

There seems to be an issue in Blacktown where buses that go from the Bus Interchange over the bridge and into the Westpoint Bus Interchange are instead going to Sunnyholt rd and turning left into Third Ave and skipping Westpoint bus interchange.

Gee. That's weird! I wonder why? Is their a crash, or are some roads blocked?
Hope to travel on all STA #statetransit85 buses by year's end!!

2891 appears to be at kingsgrove.
1086 of busways had a faulty frontdoor but remained out on the 774 this morning

There are structural issues with the parking area is Westpoint Blacktown and this could cause problems on some days as they work to fix the structural issues.
Not sure if that was the problem here though

Today, on a school excursion I saw a Coastal Liner Irizar i6 14.5m in the Blue Mountains near Springwood.
I wonder what it was doing there?
Must have been doing a tour, charter or on hire.
Quite surprising as Coastal Liner is from Warnervale (now part of CDC), so quite out of its region.

Would have to be on either one, ever since CDC took over them they have been observed out of Warnervale a fair bit be it charters, special runs and even for Rail replacement runs (They have a bus that's always at Maitland station just before 9:00AM whenever major trackwork is happening) Just a few weeks back I observed 2633 MO at Stockland Greenhils and the destination set to "Charter" if I recall. Again before the CDC takeover I can't really recall seeing them up here in Newcastle /Maitland area much. Ah well more variety when it comes to buses on train replacement runs : )

Charterplus (CDC's Charter Division) use to do rail replacement runs on Major trackwork at Maitland station but haven't seen them up here on major trackwork since CDC took over Coastal Liner. Charterplus Still does operate in Newcastle through when major trackwork happens.

Quite possibly it was also on a school excursion, just like you.

There is nothing unusual about coaches being "out of region". Their main purpose is charter work, schools or other groups, so are often on longer trips like this.

Spend a couple of hours at Scenic World and you will see coaches from all over the state, even interstate. Hardly worth reporting here.

It was at Scenic World / Echo Point on a school excursion. Saw it there on Monday and thought about taking a shot but a few more interesting subjects were about.
Are you sure it was an Irizar i6 body, the one I saw was the older Irizar 'Century' body.
From memory accreditation was Hunter Valley Buses, at an unfamiliar to me town. What was your vehicle 'Transport Buff' - I may have taken a photo of it ?

Thanks for the info. I may have been wrong, it probably was an Irizar Century (was viewed from a distance)

I was not on the bus, I saw it passing in opposite direction from where I was going. Hope this helps! :)

Yes I am aware 2633 wasn't on charter like you said, I was only going off what the Destination board said on the bus at the time, could've been up at Greenhills for any reason that day but again it was my own observation I thought it was on CHARTER but that doesn't make it right.

Yes they did rail replacement (and still do) but I've never seen them up at Maitland before the takeover but that's not to say they never operated or did anything up here before the takeover, just observations that's all and to me it feels like I've seen them more since the takeover but again... that's me and my own observations just saying.

This would make sense from a depot commonality perspective, as Kingsgrove has the similar older model Scania K280UB CB80's, and Leichhardt does not have any CB80 bodied buses.
