Private Observations - July to December 2018

I suspect it is a misprint in the Forest PDF. That 20.45 trip was new in the Forest January this year timetables and still shown in their website. The trip was shown in the Transport Info timetable archived on 28th January as going to Gordon. https://web.archive.org/web/20180128212 ... 180130.pdf

neilrex wrote:Here's a question about timetables.

Today I travelled by bus from Gordon to Mona Vale , and back. The first trip was one of those buses with the gotham arches, which had square wheels or something, it was shaking itself to pieces.

For the trip returning, I took the last bus from Mona Vale at 7:55 which goes only as far as Terry Hills. I then waited 35 minutes for the next bus to ??, which was the same bus with the same driver.

Anyway, here's the question. The trip planner appears to say that the 20:45 departure from Terry Hills will go all the way to Gordon. However, the PDF timetable which I downloaded appears to indicate that the 20:45 from Terry Hills goes only to St Ives, and it would be necessary to change to a 195 from North St Ives, allegedly scheduled 1 minute later, to get all the way to Gordon. At least, that's how it appears to me.

The bus from Terry Hill did go to Gordon ( with 4 passengers ), and a 195 with zero passengers apparently arrived at Gordon 2 minutes later.

So am I reading the timetable correctly ? It's on the second last page, Sunday schedule, the 20:45 service from Terry Hills has no arrival time at Gordon. How would you interpret this in the timetable ?

It would a bit of a worry if this 1 minute transfer didn't work, because it is the last bus.

The website is here

https://forestcoachlines.com.au/time-tables/sydney/download-time-tables

it's a misprint, that 196, and the later 196, show as stopping at Milburn Place, St Ives, when that's a 195 timing point. the times shown there should be for St Ives shops, and the timings for St Ives Shops are for Gordon.

HVB 263 via Cardiff South from 29 July 2018

Postby Newcastle Flyer » Tue Aug 07, 2018 10:28 pm

I've just seen this & can't find any other reference in this thread but it's is obviously due to NT's diversion of Route 44 to/from Kotara.
Most Route 263 buses will now go via Cardiff South.

I wonder if they’ll keep Forest’s CDi’s at Terrey Hills or if they’ll move them over to be used on the M2 with their others.

Doesn't TfNSW control which routes/services get deckers?

I guess this will spell the end of Forest's white and green livery (that IMHO is one of the better ones, simple and clean) for the non TfNSW fleet in favour of Charterplus' inspiring all white livery. :(

They probably will keep Forest brand and let them operate independently similar to Tullamarine Bus Lines in Melbourne.

I think they will keep it as Forrest if CDC wanted to have bus in the name of all their NSW operations then they would have called Q city transit Borderbus or Queanbeyanbus

Not sure what it has to do with that. The ECRL fleet is based from a temporary depot in Camellia.

Are they allowed to have a combined ECRL and Forest roster?

CDC will have a minimum contractual requirement it has to fulfill in regards the ECRL shutdown. Whether it does this with its own resources or subcontracts to others is probably up to them. Much of the planning for the shutdown has most likely already been done, so unlikely the FCL sale will have much if any impact.

CDC was the one that named Qcity Transit, renamed from Deanes Buslines. I am not sure if CDC will keep the Forest Coach Lines name, but I think the Forest business in northern regional NSW may be renamed, since CDC likes to name their businesses based on geographical location. Probably something like Coffs Harbour Transit or Coffs Harbour Buses.

What is more likely to happen will be that Hillsbus and Forest brands will be gone and replaced with CDC Sydney, as per their rebranding in Victoria, with Hunter and Coaster Liner Ops rebranded as CDC Hunter Valley.

Some interesting figures
Fleet CDC in NSW 1153 + Forest 220 + Coastal LIner 31 = 1404
State Transit 1454.
Not much between them now.

I’ve heard that CDC NSW will be doing a rebranding, and the current acquisitions make sense to that. I would imagine they’re probably going to do something along the lines of CDC Sydney, CDC Queenbeyan, CDC Hunter, CDC Coffs and the like

Yes that went around a couple of years ago when they did the renaming in Victoria. I guess it has to happen sooner or later in NSW.

Didn't cabcharge drop out of the partnership some time ago?

If so, what does the second C now stand for?

... and surely they could've come up with something a little more inspiring for charterplus than 'CDC Travel' ?
