The day after they were clipped and locked and officially decommissioned, a car went through the wall at Macdonaldtown and an XPT was stuck, they had to SPA it back to homebush to run it around the obstruction

Any 30th birthday celebrations for the Tangara?
According to Wikipedia the first entered service on April 12 1988.

I found a Stste Rail Tangara ad from mid to late 1987 or early January 1988 on YouTube saying the 21st century starts on 28th JanuaryMr Twig wrote:Any 30th birthday celebrations for the Tangara?

Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 April
∙ Buses replace trains between Parramatta and Olympic Park.
∙ Trains continue to run between Olympic Park and the City; and between Penrith, Richmond and Parramatta, continuing to Leppington.
∙ Plan your trip before you travel for up-to-date information as some trains may run to a different timetable than normal.
Bus routes
3T1: Parramatta, Granville, then Clyde and return
5T1: Parramatta, then all stations to Lidcombe (except Clyde), then Olympic Park and return
6T1: Parramatta, Olympic Park and return
T5 Cumberland Line delays
due to a grass fire at Holsworthy. Some services may extend to/from Campbelltown instead of travelling to Leppington. Please listen to announcements and check indicators.

That's a pretty confusing message for T1 Western Line trackwork.Bjwh86 wrote: ∙ Buses replace trains between Parramatta and Olympic Park.

B1 still parked at p7 at Blacktown getting lots of attention from the white vagrants at the station
Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
^Shouldn't be B1 be protected and safely stored away at AMC wouldn't want it to be vandalised.

No need to protect it/give other security treatment thats any more than the other Waratahs - B1 is just another A Set, except renamed, reskinned.

I found this very informative blog regarding the launch.Campbelltown busboy wrote:I found a Stste Rail Tangara ad from mid to late 1987 or early January 1988 on YouTube saying the 21st century starts on 28th JanuaryMr Twig wrote:Any 30th birthday celebrations for the Tangara?

Either way, not much birthday love for the Tangara.

Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
Extensive delays tonight "due to earlier incidents resulting in train crew being displaced".
Trains have been suspended between Glenfield and East Hills due to a bush fire at Holsworthy. Limited buses are operating a replacement service between Glenfield and East Hills.

- T8 services from the City that normally go to Campbelltown will instead run via the Bankstown Line stopping Central, Bankstown, Liverpool, then all stations to Campbelltown.

The level of service at Casula, at least on the down, must have been phenomenal.

Taking a bit of a chance. It reminds me of once riding an HST in northern England when it went past a big lineside fire. You could feel the heat through the windows like a blast furnace. Cooking your passengers is probably not the best way to drive a train!

Don't think they were stopping at Casula, at least from what I saw.Tonymercury wrote:andy_centralcoast wrote: [*]T8 services from the City that normally go to Campbelltown will instead run via the Bankstown Line stopping Central, Bankstown, Liverpool, then all stations to Campbelltown.

Most weren't stopping at Liverpool or Bankstown either from what I saw, just at signals behind other stopping trains. Certainly not the first time the information provided to customers is wrong or confusing.

If they have to stop at signals behind other stopping trains, wonder why they don't just stop at the station instead...andy_centralcoast wrote:Most weren't stopping at Liverpool or Bankstown either from what I saw, just at signals behind other stopping trains. Re: NSW Railway Observations - January to June 2018
I was surprised on Tuesday that Banksia only has one train every 30 minutes.
The PM and his unqualified town-planner wife want a "30 minute city", where you are supposed to be able to access major services within 30 minutes.
Never mind ""major services", if you live at Banksia you wouldn't even be able to access minor services such as a bank, supermarket or pharmacy within 30 minutes. For a congested inner suburb with rapidly increasing numbers of units, that's really not good enough.

Just to qualify, that is only between 10am and 2.30pm and later at night. 10 min frequency during peak. But it is a fair point , same goes for Arncliffe.neilrex wrote:I was surprised on Tuesday that Banksia only has one train every 30 minutes.

Rockdale has far more frequent services.
Banksia is also the closest to the Airport for those using the 400 bus, but given lack of services generally easier to use Rockdale
