Reasonably common recovery working.
The 311/324/325 can often lose 10-15min just between Barangaroo and Wynyard during peak hour

311 really operates in two halves to/from Elizabeth Bay given the time it take to do the loop, so the Kings Cross short working makes sense

Did see on 7News due to Sydney Trains operational issues replacement buses on the Carlingford Line. It looked STA did the rail replacement one bus being a Y 0405NH gassie.

On some routes the driver needs to flog the bus like hell to keep on-time. Mostly Eastern Subs & Inner West buses. If you wanted to reduce L90 patronage out of Wynyard make it depart from Clarence St since I never see anyone off-peak get on at Wynyard for the m30 which leaves off Clarence St.

^ State Transit continue to make bizaar decisions on the deployment of bendies. ALL drivers should be trained to drive them as a matter of course and allowances dropped as they are just as easy to manoeuvre. That way they can be thrown on many runs as needed with much more ease.
This is compounded in Waverley by their nonsensical deployment of those contentious VSTMs onto intensive trunk routes when they were ordered for the purpose of tight twisty runs with milder patronage levels.
230 bendy buses are amounting to a wasted multi million dollar resource that often sit idle at depots when they could be put out saving the day.

Almost all of those short Zetland runs during the peaks are done by non-metrobus branded buses :)

This was on 3/1 (sorry took it in a hurry - may not be top notch quality)

I loved seeing the two angles of this Orana info booth lol.
Such a cutie of a bus.
You could fool someone into thinking they were newer than most of the fleet when they are in that condition.

STA Observations - January to June 2018

Post by Richard290 »

Was on 1826 on an Epping-bound 546 today on Ray Road near Kent Street at around 11:15am when I noticed 1185 (on an Epping bound 549 service) bunched up ahead.
Usually the 546 and 549 services are coordinated to have services along Ray Road alternating between a 546 and 549 every half hour on weekdays in the off peak and Saturdays. I wonder what caused that 549 service to not run with the timetable.
Living at the north end of the 513 & 535. and the confluence of 513, 535, 546, 549, 550, 553, 625 & 630.

Observed 2297 Volgren bendy on the 343 to Chatswood the 11:15 departure from Kingsford. That’s must be a first thought bandies weren’t allowed on the 343. Sorry no pic was driving at the time.

I know that there's been plenty sightings and postings of metrobus on non metrobus routes and vice versa, however this one is certainly not one that you would see every day.

Seeing one on a Northern Beaches run would be a source amusement. A 136 for example.

Saw one of these yesterday. The destination was "Zetland via Rosebery". Where does it terminate?

Strange. Rosebery comes AFTER Zetland if you're headed in the Botany direction.

I think it's somewhere on Joynton Avenue.

You can see that here on the (still existent!) staging site for the Sydney Buses' now defunct website: sydneybuses.nswgov.pretacloud.com/routes/m20_20170212_tt.pdf

IIRC the Zetland terminus for the 343 was at the end of Elizabeth St into Joynton Ave, near the Electricity depot. Probably around the same location now to serve the residential estate, maybe even down to Epsom Rd.

For the 343 if memory serves me right the current shortworkings from City to Zetland terminate at Rothschild Ave at Crewe Pl near the former RTA tower. Then there use to be route 345 deviation of the 343 from Central to Epsom Rd & Link Rd axed in Oct 15. Then the m20 & night 301 Zetland terminus is Joynton Ave next to the former hospital.

This is what I'm talking about. Why do they do such stupid things like this all the time?!?
Maybe (wh)Y(?) should receive some VSTMs as well.

It's STA swift.!!! What a waste of resources. You could operate the 458 with an Optare Solo size bus very easily.
