Media Release

Nearly 50,000,000 commuters have taken a trip on a Transit Systems bus since it commenced operations in Western Sydney in 2013 and to celebrate - and say thank you - they are giving out hundreds of muffins to peak hour passengers.

A dedicated double storey “Thank U Sydney” bus will go into special service on Wednesday 6 December, with 500 muffins being handed out to commuters on buses and at bus stops during peak hour throughout the Contract 3 Region, which includes Liverpool, Fairfield and Holroyd regions.

Transit Systems CEO Clint Feuerherdt thanked passengers for their patronage and support.

“We continually strive to improve services for our customers, delivering a better passenger experience for commuters, and a more cost-effective solution for the government.

“We are proud to reach the 50M passenger milestone and celebrate the moment with people who use our service everyday.

“We’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hopefully the muffin is a pleasant surprise on an otherwise ordinary day,” he said.

Transit Systems has continually innovated and improved services in the contract region, delivering 65 brand new buses, introducing double decker buses on the T-80 and improving timetabling and connections.

Under the management of Transit Systems, the T80 service between Parramatta and Liverpool has become Sydney’s first bus rapid transport route, operating a 5 minute frequency service during peak periods. It also runs the state’s only large-scale fully air-conditioned and wheel chair accessible fleet. They also boast the youngest fleet, with the average bus age coming in below any other region.

Since 2013 Transit Systems has experienced a 12 per cent increase in overall customer satisfaction (between 2012 and 2016), with patronage on the T80 also increasing by a massive 29% to date.

Commuters can also take a free ride on the company’s on-demand service, Bridj, currently being trialled by the Transport for NSW in Wetherill Park. Bridj connects with T-80 stations including Hassall, Horsley Park and Prairiewood, with free travel available until 29 December. The service will operate between 5am – 6:30pm Monday - Friday.

Have TS invented a 'double storey' bus? Or are they preparing for the arrival of Harry Potter by gearing up for a triple-storey bus?
