It's good that the report mentions the number of the NSW population with formal disabilities, on top of which there are more who aren't registered disabled but have mobility issues, usually but not entirely related to age - all amounting to some 20% of the population. The approach so far is only minimum standard compliance and that is of course the necessary first step, but there is no mention of a longer-term objective of completely stepless public transport, including buses with stepless gangways and minimising use of double deck trains by having greater service frequency and longer trains instead. Compliant accessible train station platforms and bus stops is also a major issue.

Don't buses all have ramps now, or will by 2022 when all must be low floor? Don't know how we are going to minimise the use of double deck trains, when they make up 100% of the fleet.

What I'm referring to is that a large number of bus stops are not up to standard for accessibility, which can also mean that it is difficult to gain access even by the ramp. In terms of a barrier-free floor inside the bus, there is only a minimum standard in force now and in many buses that has a poor outcome (i.e. an inadequate proportion of stepless gangway).

In the long term, as the city's popuation becomes huge, I think double deckers will be phased out of suburban service because they're too inefficient. The emphasis will be on more higher-capacity trains at closer headways.

The first batch of Orana bodies weren't even low floor, and the first low floors aren't w/a?

Edgecliff Gallery to Bus Interchange has now opened.

Image

For the station paid area, the main lift shaft seems complete and from the latest newsletter the moved escalator should be installed.
Looks like PIDs and gate line moves in the next few weeks with some markings on the floor.

The lift between platform and concourse is not open yet. The install lift between platform and concourse should be complete by early March.

Hazelbrook Station is now in process of being upgraded. They have already put up some blue fences/barracading where the lift will be and infront of the main staircase. This was done last weekend during the trackwork period. (16-17 Feb)

Unclear if the positioning of the stairs will be the same as the original pedestrian bridge (which was a good 50+ m south of the end of the platform) or at the end of the platform. Nothing on transport NSW railway access page, obviously a ministerial propaganda election promise prior to release on the proper channels.

This is good news, but note with 6 sets of stairs and lifts, this implies that the Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra lines, stopping at platforms 11 and 12 underground, won't have access to this new footbridge and concourse. Understandably as this may substantially increase the cost.

Function of the alignment. T4 runs south effectively down Gibbons St.

Would still think that you could create a southern exit for the T4 then have an unpaid path along Gibbons Park to connect to the new main concourse.

Anyone know if this was allowed for in the original design for 11-14?

Since caretaker mode started today this is a party political announcement by the minister, as anything from now until election day has to be. Not that this means it wasn’t developed by Transport for NSW, just that it isn’t a Transport for NSW announcement.

I think the boards have actually been removed now; I've seen them at the Glenfield Network Base, which is located at the East Hills line Junction.

Macquarie Fields have PID screens. But yes Macquarie Fields station is the most forgotten the station on suburban network.

Carramar, Villawood, Leightonfield and Chester Hill is also forgotten station on the suburban network...

No provision was made for access stairs at the southern end of Redfern platforms 11 & 12. Note how narrow the platforms are at that point. Provision was made, however, for access from the 11/12 northern stairs to future platform 14, which accounts for the rather large intermediate landing on those stairs.

Yes, good luck re-constructing 80% of Sydney streets so none of them have high cambers and regular gutters.

The website this links to, is rather strange.

The photo seems to be of the existing arrangement, there is no "artist impression" of the new arrangement. There is an invisble button which I clicked on by accident. It shows a map. Its quite unclear what the big orange lines on the map are supposed to be. It is unclear whether the direction of Ivy Lane is the actual pedestrian direction towards Sydney University.

This new concourse is not the same location as the historic western entrance to the station which was beyond the western end of all of the platforms.

Are the tracks at plaform 9 and 10 actually used any more ?

Of course they are, they are the main suburban access into Eveleigh.
An asset of NSW. All opinions/comments are strictly my own.
