What's the furthest you can go on public buses? (not GH etc)

I saw a thread about it years ago, I think you could get from Newcastle to Byron Bay using exclusively public, not coach, buses? Tweed Heads buses come from outside of Byron Bay so it might be possible to go from Newcastle to the northern extent of the QLD Translink network!

depends on your definition of "public bus".
one can travel from patonga (most southern point north of the hawkesbury) all the way to brisbane and beyond by only using public (including public school bus). there's a post on this forum about that
