UGH!! Talk about spoiling the party. They have destroyed the memories of countless kids riding on the top. Don't these operators think about the passengers that ride in them?

It's a pretty clear indication that the suits in charge never ride buses for their own commuting.

Re: New Double Deckers.
Regarding the Opal Double Decker bus, thats just strange.
Why is this being promoted anymore?
Opal isn't really brand new at all anymore having first started on Ferries now almost half a decade ago, and as I'm sure people here have noticed, the OPAL BUS stickers at the bottom front of many buses have already been removed, and am sure the rest that still have them are on track to receive the same treatment.

It's an old image from a couple years ago.

Re: New Double Deckers.
I was about to ask if that was an old image. I was thinking, surely a Sydney operator wouldn't be that daft to obscure the whole view of a decker just to promote Opal at this late stage!!mandonov wrote:It's an old image from a couple years ago.

It'll be a while before the 4th T-way uses them Let's bump up the frequency of services there first!gilberations wrote:So that’s 3 out of 4 T-Ways now using Deckers!

That photo was taken 4 years ago, but I think there have been other CDi's in AOA since then.Swift wrote:I was about to ask if that was an old image. There are essentially three T-ways already, Liverpool - Parramatta, Blacktown - Rouse Hill, Parramatta - Rouse Hill, if you count the trunk routes.
In chronological order of introduction:
Blacktown - Rouse Hill: T75
Rouse Hill - Abbott T-way stop: 607X (half a T-way at best)
Liverpool - Parramatta: T80

Was this with the AOA film on the glass? Not a bad view (as freeways go).boronia wrote: That photo was taken 4 years ago, but I think there have been other CDi's in AOA since then.

Re: New Double Deckers.
How about putting some deckers on the 887 between Campbelltown and Wollongong as all services between Campbelltown and the University of Wollongong are full of mostly University students

G'day all you DD Bus fans out there. My first effort of a DD Bus on the T80 Liverpool - Parramatta T-Way. The FIRST T-Way in Sydney. Bus 1610 is approaching North Liverpool Rd in Green Valley. Pity about the shade, it was early in the morning.
More to come !
TF 24/7.
P.S. Sorry about the size, It was rejected twice for too large file size, so I had to crop most of the surrounding area out.

Those last few images - I can't make out if the lower windscreen is bonded or rubber mounted ? I've noted one CDi out and about with bonded lower windscreen.
Think for yourself, while it's still legal !

Re: New Double Deckers.
Pity STA don't have some, then we would have a throwback to the days of Leopards and Atlanteans with the same looking front. We kind of do, in that the Cdi and VST sport the TNSW livery and often converge.

Re: New Double Deckers.
I just noticed very distinctly through looking at photos that the new MAN B-Line double deckers about to enter service, they don't have a front seat on the lower deck next to the driver, unlike their CDi Bustech counterparts.
Which is a bit of a shame, but on the other hand I appreciate its a different double decker bus for the sake of variety instead of the usual Cdi Bustech
I also notice OPAL BUS stickers like we saw during the trial of Opal have been applied, which we have not seen on other recent new deliveries. This kind though is nicely much more concise and subtle

Re: New Double Deckers.
Even without the peculiar axle arrangement (not BT's fault) the styling looks over the top. Why does this Australian outfit seem anxious to stand our from the pack with their wacky designs both inside and out, where an import upstages it with a sensible and attractive shape that actually looks normal. Thank you Gamilang and NSW govmint.Jurassic_Joke wrote:

The B line imports look much better than the Bustech Cdi.

Re: New Double Deckers.
It seems to have taken the innovations of the CDi to rewaken interest in double deckers.

Re: New Double Deckers.
They've done that job now. Time to convert them to full low floor single deckers in the hope of awakening interest in that.

Re: New Double Deckers.
Took a stroll through Wynyard on my lunch break and came across 2862 (also fitted with Opal readers unlike the 2852 that arrived a bit later), so took a few pics. Pics dont do it justice its quite a sight to behold, and I'm really looking forward to November 26th. I also agree with Swift I think it looks nicer than a CDi Bustech (looks more streamlined, no diagonal stripe on the left side of the bus) but thats taste really

Did passersby stare in wonderment ( like you no doubt would have) our did they display that irritating behavior of deliberately acting underwhelmed?

Re: New Double Deckers.
Actually, there was someone that got on and asked something I couldn't hear (not sure if directions or if they could look through the bus), got off shortly after, so theres that, but otherwise people generally walked past it without batting an eye to be honestSwift wrote:Did passersby stare in wonderment ( like you no doubt would have) our did they display that irritating behavior of deliberately acting underwhelmed?
