The red rattlers were good when the doors were wide open and you had those lift up windows. More technology only serves to seal us up like a tin can.

Think you'll find it is the idiots that do that for us.Swift wrote:The red rattlers were good when the doors were wide open and you had those lift up windows. More technology only serves to seal us up like a tin can.

Re: $1.7 billion order for new Waratah trains signed
Took my first ride on B2 today. The announcements were set way too loud. Also interesting is that the announcement tone, which has gone from most A sets, is turned on.
The displays seem to have some kind of glitch when displaying an interchange message, it will finish scrolling and then go blank. The display then stays blank even if another announcement is played. After a few minutes, when stopped at a station, it starts working as normal again when the 'this station is...' announcement is manually played (normally plays immediately on door opening).

Two B sets at Downer Cardiff along with what I assume is A42.

What is the difference between A and B set seats? I heard that there are tweaks to the seating.

There is an additional Desto in the vestibule area on B sets, just at the bottom staircase, with a couple of ads. whereas, the A’s don’tidontknow556 wrote:What is the difference between A and B set seats? I heard that there are tweaks to the seating.

Seating is pretty much the same. The fabric seems a bit bluer but I suspect it's because it hasn't been sat on millions of times yet like the A sets.

Re: $1.7 billion order for new Waratah trains signed
Is this claim correct or incorrect: Set A2 was scrapped due to damages and so A80 was created to replace A2?
Re: $1.7 billion order for new Waratah trains signed
I recall A01 and A02 were both scrapped. A01 was rebuilt from scratch at the end of the order and A02 was rebuilt from scratch but renumbered A80. Don’t think it was damages so much as poorer build quality at the start of the order but happy to be corrected.boxythingy wrote:Is this claim correct or incorrect: Set A2 was scrapped due to damages and so A80 was created to replace A2?

Wasn't A2 damaged in transit from China and completely replaced with A80?Aurora wrote:I recall A01 and A02 were both scrapped. I wonder when Hornby or Lima will release an HO model of these trains?

The beauty now is they can market two trains out of the same mould, expanding the potential market.
I reckon they would sell up a storm, like Transit Graphics did with their Sydney Buses range.

You can already purchase S and V set models. T sets are available to order from Auscision.Swift wrote:The beauty now is they can market two trains out of the same mould, expanding the potential market.

Another company brought out a four car red set in the 80s, which was very accurate, but cost a bomb. It included pantographs.boronia wrote:About time Ferris bought out a new model
I did not know this. I would love the M set and the new Metro to be released.Daniel wrote: You can already purchase S and V set models. T sets are available to order from Auscision.

Re: $1.7 billion order for new Waratah trains signed
Berg's Hobbies have produced a number of HO scale Sydney suburban car sets through their Minimodels range, from the original Bradfield cars through to DD sets. No doubt the Waratahs are in the pipeline.
