Plenty on Facebook pages

Plus Youtube. Apart from Mr OCB's video I posted a couple of pages back, there's this for example, with a decent look around the interior:

The Germans aren't as good at getting that low-floor gangway trench at the rear of the bus to a decent width as the Poles and Czechs.

The one I’m on right now said first stop Neutral Bay Junction. Perhaps the announcement changes during peak hour?

They won’t be too happy to see that every bus and bus stop line map has Newport as the terminus.

Plenty of routes have short workings.

The 393 has an advertised terminus of LaPerouse, but there is only a couple of trips a week that go/start there.

Maybe they will knock off their last 14.5s. Willo should get them too but will probably operate the final 14.5 "land ships".

According to the Fleet Lists there have been 13 buses from Mona Vale have moved to Port Botany of the Volvo B12 1.5 door bendies.

The 14.5m buses will still be needed on the outbound Bunnerong Rd services. I reckon Kinsgrove will operate the last Scania 14.5m buses.

It seems to me that a 1.5 door artic would be purpose-built for the Warringah services and would be a fat lot of good in typical inner-urban operation. The passenger exchange and dwell issues in a crowd don't bear thinking about. Rural school bus services would be their next best destination, unless there's a bit of an industry in adding bus doors in Australia (the antipode of the door-filling-in industry in UK). 8)

^Coachmaster installed back doors on ex Woomera rocket range Leyland buses for Hunters Hill Bus Co. This was in 1973. A shame they aren't around now.

Obs/B-line - Looks like the B-line busses are running out of service in morning peak via Eastern Valley Way/Roseville bridge - didn't realise it was that much quicker than via the normal route

Way back in my day (last century) to - from Mona Vale and Wynyard, the Wakehurst Parkway / Roseville Bridge / Eastern Valley Way was always quicker than Pittwater Rd (through Dee Why) and the (on lane) Spit Bridge.

Tim Williams wrote:Yes, you are totally correct, the Volgren DD is a magnificent beast, shame it has not sold well. I thought that one prototype was built for TfNSW and finished up with CDC Vic and the other 2 (built in Malaysia??) were purchased by Thompsons, Qld.

So are you saying that there is a third (Malaysian??) one, which remains unsold. Volgren make a very competent product and they do have DD experience in HK and Singapore. It is a pity that their product was not chosen for the B Line service. Similarly I think Bustech CDI's are a great and innovative product too - I presume MAN/Gemilang won on price, although I could be wrong!

Exactly right, the third one have was moved to Sydney around July as CMV is moving into a new site in Melbourne.

The third unit has been disappeared since then.

I think Volvo should make a come back as a demo after the axle weight limit have made changes by raising the tandem group to 15.5t which makes the total of 22t (which is legal for anything)

Another demo that has been disappeared is MAN 6413.

As part of hazard assessments, there would probably be defined "off route" routes for empty running.

T3 TRANSIT LANES ARE CHANGING ON THE NORTHERN BEACHES

From 15 January, morning peak bus lanes will replace some T3 transit lanes on the Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore.
The changes are being made to improve reliability and efficiency of bus services.
Southbound T3 transit lanes will be removed on:
  • Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation (from Condamine Street to Sydney Road)
  • Spit and Military Roads (from Ourimbah Road, Mosman to Watson Street, Neutral Bay)
Bus lanes will operate from 6am-10am weekdays.

Have they hired someone from Perth, who is impervious to the private motorists lobby (parasites)?

J_Busworth wrote:I was on a standard B12-CB60 L90 on Friday, caught it all the way from Wynyard to Palm Beach. Driver was only letting those going beyond Mona Vale get on at Wynyard, asking others to get on a B-Line bus. It was crush load, with people holding onto the front door, run plate, etc so they didn't fall. Driver didn't stop for those waiting at any of the stops after Wynyard until Mona Vale as the bus was too full and there were standees all the way up to Palm Beach, this was at 10am. Got a bendy on the way back around 3pm, bus full by Newport, only stopped to set down from Mona Vale. Certainly still needs the bendy on all services and a frequency increase particularly during summer, people don't want to change to and from B-Line so they just wait for the L90 which has a stupid hourly frequency. We passed at least 3 empty B-Line buses both ways!

Should be removed and all those trips absorbed into 199 services.

I was on a 199 from Warringah Mall to Manly last Friday as well. Very healthy load at around 3.30 pm.

That would be one very uncomfortable trip from Palm Beach to Wynyard.I'd agree with you swtt about deleting the L90 and replace with 199.

Some stupid insights on a NSW FB page about the change from T3 to Bus lanes:

"I'd like to ride on the B-1, but they aren't building a commuter car park at Spit Junction or Manly Vale"

"No more T3? I only had kids so I could use it".

The usual politicking holding onto the L90 to appease dumb old people who won't get with the times, real or imagined. And certain members wonder why I have contempt for my home state.
