Fresh from bringing a new depot online in Sydney, Veolia Transdev NSW General Manager of Operations Len Kidd is this year’s state winner of the ABCUA Achiever Award, presented at the BusNSW Management Seminar.

After many years working in family based operations, Kidd pursued a career with Connex in the late 1990s, which later became Veolia Transdev.

Kidd lives and breathes the bus industry, and has played a big part in the success of Veolia Transdev in NSW.

In the past 10 years there have been significant changes across the bus industry and it is testament to hard work and commitment that Len Kidd continues to embrace change through these industry shifts.

Len has been core to the enormous growth within the business, is actively involved in a diverse range of projects and played a key role in the design and construction of Veolia Transdev’s newest depot at South Granville, which officially opened earlier this year.

As an active member of the bus community, Kidd sits on many BusNSW committees and is instrumental in working with Veolia Transdev’s stakeholders. He has been involved in supporting Government with the roll out of new services and customer experience initiatives, including the recent launch of a Veolia Transdev endorsed bus safety education program for school children.

According to his award citation, Kidd recognises the importance of relationships in doing business, enabling him to play a key role in business growth activities including acquisitions, tenders, charters and rail replacement work – done in conjunction with local Sydney partners including Punchbowl Bus and Forest Coach Lines.

He is regarded by many fellow operators as an optimist, supportive of colleagues and ultimately proud to be part of the bus industry.

Eastcoast is a Victorian Bus & Truck Maintenance co possibly related to Ventura and has nothing to do with this which is a New South Wales matter. I notice this has since also been posted in the Victorian thread where it is more likely to be relevant.

He moved to Transit Systems in November 2017 https://www.transitsystems.com.au/all-l ... d-on-board

November 2017

Transit Systems is pleased to announce a new General Manager for the Transit Systems NSW business, with industry veteran Len Kidd now heading up the state’s operations.

Len brings with him more than 35 years’ experience in the transport industry, with extensive knowledge and leadership across all aspects of a bus and transport business.

With direct experience in enterprise agreement negotiations, industrial relations, stakeholder and employee engagement, contract, operational and labor management, as well as special event planning and project management experience, Len brings both bus passion and transport best practice knowledge to the Transit Systems operations.

Transit Systems CEO Clint Feuerherdt said the company was excited to welcome Len to the team and looked forward to leveraging his vast operational and industry knowledge.

“Len’s experience is a great asset to our company, especially as we continue to strive forward and deliver innovative public transport initiatives.

“We will draw on many of Len’s skill sets to ensure our services, fleet, employees and contracts continue to lead the industry.

“We’ll also be leveraging Len’s local Sydney knowledge to support our new Demand Responsive transport solution, Bridj, commencing services in December and representing a very exciting time in public transport in New South Wales.

Kidd has already commenced his position at Transit Systems, working from the Smithfield depot.

According to Len, joining the successful team at Transit Systems is a tremendous opportunity as it is one of the leading bus operators in the Sydney SMBSC contracts and it has a very strong relationship with all stakeholders.

“Moving forward, I would like to continue to enhance staff engagement and make Transit Systems the employer of choice, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and help grow the business.” he said.

Transit Systems is an Australian owned family company that has built a reputation for a positive work culture and its ability to collaborate effectively with Government to deliver improved services for passengers.

The Transit Systems group currently operates bus services in Western Australia, New South Wales, South Australia, Northern Territory, Singapore and London.
