Should've been pretty obvious target.

Particularly after Canberra's unit got targeted on its first night in the new depot.

Anyhow I suspect unfortunately it won't be the last time.

Have they ever heard of something called security?

I walked around the depot yesterday, and they putting up high spiked top fencing and very heavy gates at the entrances.

The racecourse has blocked off pedestrian access to the boundary line between the sites recently.

The cameras are up, and presumably live. But the depot isn't flood lit at night (it could be. The lights are there and functional). Also you could waltz right in through a gap in the construction fence on Alison Rd and then in through the unfinished Doncaster Ave vehicular entrance for the past couple of months.

Absolute idiocy from go to whoah this project has been.
Do they think such valuable equipment could be left out in the open like that, without the undesirable element getting to them eventually? Bloody crazy.

It must be a thrill having a "railway line" near your residence.

TfNSW did not learn a lesson from the graffiti incident involving a metro train in storage at Rouse Hill last year.

Yet these unappreciative varmints will probably get plenty of benefits from these new services. They have to be sick in the head don't they? Honestly, a lead lobotomy is the only solution with some of them.

Very healthy environment when you have to walk about 1km to get from one side of the street to the other.

It isn’t a TfNSW problem - keeping the fleet graffiti free is one of the key KPIs for the PPP, so they have an incentive to get it right. They are probably only penalised if a tram can’t be used for a scheduled service run, or if they run a tram that has been graffitied, so I guess they have made the judgement that the risk is acceptable at this point. The KPI would have also driven the use of materials in the tram which easily allow graffiti removal.

That's got to be a joke right.

Ridiculously inappropriate to name a stop after a life destroying pokie palace.

How is this even being changed so late?

Nineways was far more appropriate.

Like The Star?

Otherwise I agree Nine Ways would be a better name.

Yeah, I am inclined to agree.
TfNSWs reasoning as per the linked pdf could equally be applied to the name Nine Ways.

Daceyville Junction.

I would have thought it logical to give a line terminus a major identifier and I would call this Kingsford and call the next one north something else, like the name of the cross-street.

The Star is a slightly different situation as the tram stop is actually inside the building.

I wonder how many locals are aware of the Nine Ways name? I live nearby and wasn't until it turned up on bus desto's. And realistically, it no longer has nine. In the old tramway life, it was Daceyville Junction.

I have suggested it should be KINGSFORD INTERCHANGE, to reflect its importance as a mixed transit hub. Newcastle Interchange is a precedent for this usage.

Could Kingsford Junction work or Kingsford Parkway ? I was thinking if we going to rename stops to surrounding entities Moore Park should be SCG or Allianz Stadium, Bridge St to the MetCentre.

Allianz Stadium could well be someone else's Stadium next year. I really dislike all these corporate names only, for entertainment facilities.

Most people would know where Bridge St is, or can find it on maps. Not so for the MetCentre.

Perhaps KINGSFORD could be KINGSFORD SHOPS to distinguish it from KINGSFORD INTERCHANGE.
