I would say that it has commenced - Hillsbus have repainted their first Metrobus into TfNSW livery.Linto63 wrote:But nothing like a shiny new toy for the pollies to wheel out for the voters, and gives the marketing types something to crow about. Sydney Ferries is only "privatised" in the sense that a private company actually operates the ferries. It is still part of the Government network.moa999 wrote: Agreed.
But now that Sydney Ferries is privatised I would have thought their is rationale behind actually incorporating it fully in the Public system.
Manly Ferry is arguably different as it's a premium (express) service.
(Presumably Captain Cook actually makes money on the routes as it stands)
MFF and CCC can be compared, whether "premium or not, as they are privately owned companies and can set their own fares (within limits determined by IPART)

9865, remarkably also the first 14.5m bus in the fleet in TfNSW livery (and possibly the state?)

Well, I looked at Stand B today, and see that the m30 times are shown with all the other services there.boronia wrote:Not at Eddy Ave:I haven't looked at others yet

Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?
Not strictly a Metrobus service, but a cross-city route nonetheless which has been discussed here, walking west along Broadway this afternoon from Central, of the 4 route 440s that passed me heading towards Bondi Junction, 3 were full and standing while other buses that also came from Parramatta Road, 438, 483, M10s etc were all fairly lightly loaded. While not 100% scientific, given that the 440s could have been first on the scene after a lull at some of the stops, but seemed to indicate a high level of demand for this cross-city route.

Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?
I keep saying, everywhere, the government being hell-bent on having everything terminate outside/at the edge of the city (B-line being the latest to be included in this) is not a good thing, nor is it really a good look for visitors that might want to see some of the city on the bus - instead of being egged on to go down the stairs into Wynyard station and see a dark tunnel instead. Some people just don't like changing lines on public transport. They have to give up their seat, risk not being able to get another one, or if its raining, self-explanatory.Linto63 wrote: While not 100% scientific, given that the 440s could have been first on the scene after a lull at some of the stops, but seemed to indicate a high level of demand for this cross-city route.

Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?
I have been informed that as part of the bus changes associated with the opening of Sydney Metro Northwest, all the Metrobus routes that cross paths with the line will be renumbered to avoid confusion. This will include the M40, M41, M54, M60 and M61 services. That would be a large portion of the Metrobus network struck from the maps.

The unamalgamation of the M91 would mean the return of routes 910 and 948boronia wrote:Why just the north west? Just give all the second generation metrobuses their original numbers,

So even if M41 only duplicates SMNW between Macq Uni and Macq Park stations, it'll get renumbered?
May as well just call them B40, B41, B54 etc as it was suggested in Sydney's Bus Future.
Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?
M41 has no original number! Brand new route.boronia wrote:Why just the north west? Just give all the second generation metrobuses their original numbers,
Or maybe, we should now call it the 410
Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?
^ Correct.
Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?
Correct, as in M41 will become 410?Stu wrote:^ Correct.
Or simply M41 --> B41?
Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?
Route number 410 will be resurrected.

Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?
Admittedly I do like the "M" branding. I live around the Concord/Rhodes area, and the introduction of this route in 2010 was a watershed moment for bus services (we only had a crappy 458/non existent 459 service prior).Stu wrote:Route number 410 will be resurrected.
Seeing the original number disappear is just a little sad.

M41->410
M54->548
M60->600
M61->610X
M40 is difficult to guess. 272?
Re: Metrobus a few years on: a success?
Seeing that almost every 610X got converted to M61 only during 2017, it really does seem silly for it to revert.stupid_girl wrote: M61->610X
Maybe the rapid route branding could get rolled out even if only to this route...B6.
M40 can be renumbered 378 and sent straight into Bronte to silence some of the loud residents

This ties in with the 200 BJI to Chatswood (emulates the 400-410-420 connections)
