https://www.macarthuradvertiser.com.au/ ... xQhk_39uHUCommuters across Macarthur will soon be able to enjoy a bevvy of new bus services.
Camden MP Chris Patterson today welcomed the introduction of about 500 additional weekly bus services in the south-west through the creation of three new routes.
The new route 840 will ferry people between Oran Park and Campbelltown Hospital, via Gregory Hills Drive and Badgally Road.
There will be roughly 250 trips a week on the route, with services operating every 30 minutes during weekday peak periods and 60 minutes at other times of the day and on weekends.
Route 868 from Edmondson Park to Ingleburn will now allow people to travel to the Ingleburn Industrial Estate and provide more than 120 additional trips from Monday-Friday.
Finally, the existing route 859 will assist more commuters in Macarthur’s north, travelling from Carnes Hill to Edmondson Park via Greenway Drive and Horningsea Park Drive an additional 190 times per week.
Mr Patterson said the new services offered Macarthur commuters greater opportunities to get around.
“These extra services are designed to give customers more choice of when they travel,” he said.
“We’ve listened to feedback from stakeholders and studied Opal data to design three new routes that will provide the most benefit to the community.
“The new routes cover areas like Oran Park, Campbelltown Hospital, Ingleburn Industrial Estate, Bardia and Edmondson Park Station where we know that there is growing demand.
“They have been funded through the NSW Government’s Growth Services Program, which has already delivered almost 2000 additional weekly bus services in the south west since 2011.”
The new bus routes will start on 20 December. Customers should plan their journey ahead of time by visiting http://www.transportnsw.info.

What region will route 840 run under it sounds like a region 2 route that would be run by Interline but I’ve got told off a Busabout driver that Busabout might be operating the 840 witch mean that it will most probably will be a region 15 route

If as stated that the will start on 20th December, the timetables should be there now so hopefully they will be there tomorrow or soon there after.
Nothing on Interline or Busabout websites either.

My bet is the 840 will be operated by Busabout and the 868 by Interline.Be interesting to see what patronage each route will get.

Yes that are my thoughts BUT 20th December is the first day of school holiday timetables and Busabout have had their new timetables from that date up since last Wednesday but no new route 840. On the other hand no such timetables from Interline as yet.

There were changes quite recently on 23 Sept, 30 Sept and 2 Dec. This is another one.Fleet Lists wrote:What does that mean?rogf24 wrote:I get that it's another operator but another change so soon from TfNSW.

It’s good to finally see these services come through and actually be delivered. Those areas desperately need better public transport away from the rail corridor.
To be home any I was hoping these services would have come through with the bug Sydney wise changes on December 2, but better than never.

Links are available to the new timetables but the timetables themselves are no there as yet on Transport Info. But the Interline website mentions all three new routes so it looks all three will be Interline although again no timetables yet.

That will be raised as an issue as the other Interline timetables do have such maps.

Re: New Bus Services for Macarthur Commuters Starting 20 Dec
Resolving where Route 840 will actually run needs to be addressed, as the existing Route Maps on the TfNSW website depict the route travelling via significantly different roadways between Gregory Hills and Blairmount in each direction, which I suspect would not be correct.Fleet Lists wrote:That will be raised as an issue as the other Interline timetables do have such maps.

Re: New Bus Services for Macarthur Commuters Starting 20 Dec
I would suggest that the route would likely operate direct along Badgally Road onto Gregory Hills Drive as suggested in the map from Campbelltown to Oran Park. The route in the other direction has the bus going a nonsensical way that involves a lot of backtracking and illegal (and possibly impossible) u-turns in odd places.

Re: New Bus Services for Macarthur Commuters Starting 20 Dec
Yeah the trip planner route is all over the place atm. Based on the timetable, I'm gonna assume it runs from the Oran Park town centre, down Oran Park Drive and Gregory Hills Drive, turns into Village Circuit, does a u-turn at the roundabout and back onto Gregory Hills Drive*, drives down Badgally Road and onto Campbelltown Station, then onto Farrow Road followed by Blaxland Road, makes a detour to Macarthur Square before heading down to the hospital.
*Update: Actually no, looking at the trip view app, it seems that the bus will turn into Village Circuit before turning onto Kavanagh Street then back on Gregory Hills Drive.

Concerning the PDF maps, Transport for NSW has requested copies from Interline but they do not know when they will get them.

Re: New Bus Services for Macarthur Commuters Starting 20 Dec
Went out to Edmonson Park this morning to see some of the new services. Drivers report that there were very few passengers (1 or 2 the entire morning), bus stops are barely signposted (if at all) and run times are way too long, with one dtivervreporting having to sit at least 2 minutes at every second stop.

Re: New Bus Services for Macarthur Commuters Starting 20 Dec
Patronage will grow as people become aware of the new routes and adjust accordingly. I can see the 840 becoming extremely popular, being so direct.
