What is your favourite seat?

Don't think this has been discussed before - if it has, then it is well and truly dug into the far underworld of this forum...

So the question is, what is YOUR favourite seat on the bus? ;)

Is it virtually opposite the driver in the first seat behind the door, or perhaps the first seat on the rise of steps towards the back, or are you one of those typical kids who roam the back row?
Perhaps your favourite seat varies, depending on which bus you're in. Or maybe, you simply just don't have one. Tell us below - what is your favourite seat and if there is any particular reason, then let us know!

My favourite is the drivers seat because I get paid to sit in it.

Ahaha, forgot to list that one. I reckon that's a pretty good place to sit in that bus of yours ;)

The seat at the front ("gunzel seat", or "granny seat"). I like to see the road ahead, and sometimes converse with the driver. Also makes things quicker for photo stops. If that is unavailable or I wish to record the vehicle, then it's the seat over the rear/middle axle or behind he centre door. Also nice to sit there when I'm tired and want to get a bit more comfortable.

On a full bus I'm just glad to get a seat though.

As far as seat types go, my favourite is the McConnell 'Commuter', as seen in bus 3269 in Adelaide. After that is the 'Centra' (found in ABM and Volgren products in Adelaide). Not a fan of the 'Urban'.

I would love to drive a bus, but unfortunately I am not old enough to be qualified :|

This should be an interesting topic.

Out of habit I almost always choose a seat on my right (when boarding). Often towards the back (aft of rear door); this avoids any kerfuffle with wheel-chairs, prams, dolleys and that sort of thing. Typically, I'll avoid the back couple of rows, as it seems those are frequently occupied by 'stereotypical types...' Additionally, I'm rather paranoid (especially on older buses) of having a part of an engine's anatomy lodging itself firmly in mine.

Concerning the type / brand of seat, I have only this to say. A big, chunky cushy one! The new Volvos have them, as do the old high-floors. They're marvellously comfortable, and make up for a boring bus or decidedly poor one any-day.

Anywhere where the aircon works. If not, then the seat after the rear axle, or the seat after front door. If I have shopping, then it's an easy-to-get-off seat, opposite the rear door.

Cheers!

On the Across Australia Coachline's Bova Futura it was the courier seat up the front. If I wasnt driving but I needed to be on duty then the courier seat was the other best seat on board.

The window seat on the second row on the left (not the door side) after the low floor section, second favourite will the seat right at the front right next to the front door but leg room is often crap here.

If it's a vehicle that isn't a CB80, then the seat behind the centre door (excluding on Volgren CR228Ls). I tend to prefer the one on the right, mainly but not entirely so that I don't have to make it look like I'm not staring at folks as they alight.

If it's an SL202, then it's the seat on the left as long as the doors aren't too rattly, as long as there's sufficient leg room...

The only other one I will feel satisfied with getting is the seat at the front (on low floors) when I feel like conversing with a driver. If I'm forced to sit behind where I intend to, then I tend to sit right on the edge of the aisle ready to switch and not really feel like I've gotten a seat I want.

I have long legs, so for the best leg room I go for the seats in front of the rear wheels. However on some of the newer Volvos (the batch with shiny metal backrests and ear-piercing stop-bell) those seats seem to resonate with the frequency of the idle engine, and the whole seat vibrates when the bus is stopped, somewhat uncomfortable to rest one's back on.

And preferably on the left, so I can see the road ahead.

EDIT: ... except on buses where there's anti-graffiti perforated metal on the windows (e.g. 2004), the glare from the sun is horrible. I head south a.m. and north p.m. so in this case I sit on the right where possible.
