Sydney Deckers in movie - Pinchgut (1959) (with screenshots)

Postby AEC Decker » Thu Aug 25, 2011 8:54 pm

AEC Decker has been informed that DGT Sydney double deckers are "starring" in this thriller movie set in Sydney in 1959. :D
Apparently the deckers are used to evacuate the residents of Kings Cross.

It will be broadcast in Sydney on GEM (digital channel 90) Saturday at 4:00am - 6:00am. :D

If you don't feel like waking up at 4:00am (AEC Decker doesn't), time slip record it on your PVR. :D

The name of the movie is called The Siege of Pinchgut made in 1959 by Ealing Studio starring Aldo Ray.I think I can remember watching this movie many years ago on telly.

It must of cost a pretty pound to hire them from the D.G.T.I noticed in the second picture that the tram viaduct crossing from Milson pt to North Sydney is still standing I wonder what year they finally dismantled the tram viaduct.I wonder what depots they got all the Leyland OPDs and the frog from. Were you upset they were mainly Leylands and no AEC Regent III air doors  in the film.

That's the reason why AEC Decker uploaded that particular screen shot. :D

The frog (at least) is or could be an AEC.

The movie is a time capsule of Sydney in 1959 and it's worth watching just for that. :D

The side desto box on the frog indicates it can only be an early AEC.

The viaduct was not demolished until the mid 1960s, around 66 or 67.
