I base my opinion on little things I know to be truth, and try to build up to a big picture from there. You can never be 100% certain on anything. Am I 100% certain on issues regarding environment (...or politics, or religion.)? no. Am I an all knowing supergenius? no.
Here are the little puzzle pieces that slot in to form the big picture that is the best of my knowledge.

We have a finite amount of certain resources/we are using some faster than they regenerate.
We live in a predominantly free market society where market price forms a very key persuade/dissuade action.
If you eat a potato it will die.
You burn something made of hydrocarbons, it releases carbon dioxide.
Fanta is the best flavour of softdrink.
Slight changes in carbon dioxide (and a whole bunch of other gases. seriously it's complicated and I don't fully know) has at least some effect on temperatures and patterns in weather.
Humans are very slow to change. where our cities are, which land we farm, etc is pretty much based of how the environment was beginning from the agricultural revolution.
We could deal with changes in rain patterns, temperatures, sea levels, etc. We would adapt, we would survive. most of us would rather not though.

Given the choice I would rather use IE9 over Firefox 10 (even with the ESR version that won't break every six weeks). However, because IE isn't plugin friendly and Tumblr was written by Mactards who are yet to update their website to support a mainstream browser that has been out in some form or another for almost two years, I perservere with Friedfox for some things. Granted, 9 isn't perfect, but it's a fat lot better than Firefox IMO.

Mr Bailieu from the get-go always said he was going to scrap myki. They came to office and this year, Metcard is being switched off for myki.

It's hard for some political commitments to be kept, especially when the comments are made - the person making them isn't entirely aware of the depth of these things.

myki was always going to stay. Metcard is too far gone to keep and is locked into all sorts of horrible contracts.

I'm sure on some level, She probably resents the carbon tax because of what it's done to her governments credibility but stop and think for a moment that it's being done because of the climate we're in, and if Ms Gillard could go back on it, she would.

Unfortunatly, It's inevitable and I honestly believe if there were an election tomorrow which she lost to Abbott, god forbit, It'd still be going ahead because of the absolute requirement for it in the long term.

I'm not trying to devalue your point. Just... step back and look at the situation in from a broader viewpoint. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Just... ... stop beating a dead horse.

While I hate Gillard, I can't say that I am a fan of Tony Abbott, he's not that great either, but Liberals would still get my side, after all, he's just the leader of the party. The party itself (unless he wants to change it completely, which I'm sure which would be met with objection) will still have its classic policies and view on things.
