I talk so loud on the phone that a local conversation hardly requires a phone at all.

Mr Scania is the same.

I think it becomes an automatic reaction to being either in a situation where the background is extremely noisy or the person receiving is almost completely deaf.

What brings you to "Actionville"?

It can be a bit dull at times, but there are worse places to be. At least it's not like some other towns in the area where you get mugged walking around in broad daylight. The weather at the moment is horrible, but it can be nice in summer.

I find irony in a Queenslander saying that the drivers in NSW are bad as well...

After AGAIN being refused a pre-ordered load from Concrete Recyclers in Thackeray St, Camellia, Daz got a bit upset...

I got told to stop mouthing off over a two way radio by the women in the weighbridge after letting all tuned to UHF 29 know of my displeasure. The person who enters registration numbers and who hands out weigh notes at the window started carrying on as they tend to do, so Daz being himself responded to false accusations and untrue slander as Daz does. Abusively, unforgivingly, loudly and legally. I'll fairly accept what I honestly deserve, but when complaints fall on deaf ears and they make up stories, grrrr.

Well, turns out the allocator of Concrete Recyclers Camellia, Cheryl, after ducking off to get a coffee came back to her post to find a window attendant "almost in tears". Well, long story short, Cheryl called my place of employment to find my unsympathetic boss reminding her of how we are the frigging customer and how it's her problem if her stupid young receptionist picks fights she won't win.

As we are however a sub-contract carrier for said recyclers of concrete, much arse kissing and genuine, sincere apologizing was required to ensure I don't get sent in the opposite direction on the last run for them. Im still learning about these females in high places- apparently everyone knows how bad and hopeless they are at their jobs but it is not ok to point it out.

I say you mess with the bull, you get the horns.

Hardly robbed at all. West Coast put up a good fight and it was a great game (I was there, the suspense killed me at the end) but Collingwood came back in the last quarter. They won fair and square.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you're playing soccer, cricket, league, union or AFL, the team who kicks the most goals, scores the most tries, gets the most runs or does whatever it is that scores points in AFL wins. [my knowledge is limited]. Doesn't matter how much they lead by at half time, the 67th minute or whenever. All that matters is whoever has the most points at the end of the game, weather that's 1 or 100. Nothing annoys me more than the "we should have won" ramblings, other than of course the "we would have run if it wasn't for the dodgy ref" ramblings that the VN Commodore driving bogans seem to be big on.

You've hit the nail on the head. That's the way the game should be played. Not this whole "your team is XXX, you're XXX, the umpires are XXX, etc.." load of crap. If people had the same view as you, Albatross, there would be a lot less of this whole "you go for <team> so you must be a bogan" propaganda.

Oh well, one can dream.

Tonight's frustration.

I went to the Federal hotel at Alstonville with another family for dinner.

When we all went up to order our meals , I wasn't allowed to order a meal because I was under 18. ( I was with a group of others, who are well and truly over 18).

So what ended up happening was I told the casheir what I wanted and I had to get another person hand the money over.

The guy who runs the Federal Hotel is known to be a bit strict with stuff like that. Word in town is he's a bit of a wanker. The Pioneer Tavern at Wollongbar is much more laid back and less uptight about stupid rules like that. I also think the food there is nicer, but it's all much of a muchness. I think the cops have been running a blitz on all 3 of the licenced venues in town, checking that everything is in order, so they may just have been a bit on edge with having someone underage near the bar.

So that's what was happening over there. I wondered why the normally empty showground was packed with caravans and 4x4's...

The layout of the whole Main Street/Plaza area is horrible if you ask me-after the bypass went in the main street was "beautified", we swapped an ugly, but barely functional piece of road for a supposedly nice looking but not very functional street. The Plaza is normally alright but between the oldies who can't drive properly and the design of some of the carparks it can be a challenge.

can't believe I got the quoting tags right... I think
