The first 11 years of my life was spent in Birmingham where the city council bus operator had nearly 2,000 buses of which only 30 or so were single deckers. Birmingham City Transport developed (through Guy Motors) the concealed radiator style thanks to Midland Red who set the trend in this area. This is an official Birmingham City Transport photo of this new bus taken around 1953 when the bus was new.
After Birmingham we moved to Welwyn Garden City, about 28kms north of London and in the London Transport "Green" area, with green RT's which were a beautiful design but looked a bit old fashioned around the front compared to the BCT buses.
