[JR East] Shinkansen - E2, E3, E4, E6

Postby Sir Pompously » Fri Dec 21, 2012 12:31 am

A JR East E6 Series (E6系) is seen at Akita station undergoing familiarisation testing with staff at Akita depot. This train is not due to enter service until March 2013 on the new Super Komachi service between Tokyo and Akita, with the service running at 300km/h on the Tohoku Shinkansen section.

Two JR East E2 series trains stand at Morioka Station, one preparing for a journey to Tokyo and the other having just arrived from Tokyo

E3 series R14 is seen arriving into Akita to operate a service to Tokyo. The Akita Shinkansen between Morioka and Akita is classed as a Mini-Shinkansen, meaning it was a narrow gauge railway converted to standard gauge to allow for trains to run through to their destination. The maximum speed on the Akita Shinkansen is 130km/h. Gauge change trains are being trialled currently to allow more of this style of running, but without having to convert the gauge at a large cost.

A JR East E3 series train is seen on the Akita Shinkansen heading for Akita past rice fields at Yotsuyoga

A JR East E3 series train (R22) is seen passing through Ugo-Sakai station

A JR East E3 series train (R24) is seen having just departed Akita heading through Yotsugoya

Not a great photo, but tried for a hand held shot of a E4 series nose and the arrival of a 200 series

Great photos mate. Looks like you went to great lengths to capture the trains, esp the rice paddy photos.
