Proposed changes to Northern bus services
Transperth is inviting the public to comment on proposed changes to routes 390, 391, 467 and 469 and the introduction of new services in Ashby, Landsdale and Tapping. These upgrades may also benefit passengers presently using routes 352, 376 and 468.
Suburbs affected by the proposed changes are:
■Ashby
■Banksia Grove
■Carramar
■Darch
■Greenwood
■Hocking
■Joondalup
■Landsdale
■Madeley
■Marangaroo
■Pearsall
■Tapping
■Wangara
■Wanneroo
■Warwick
■Woodvale.
Services are proposed to change as follows:
Route 352: Whitfords Station to Landsdale via Madeley – no changes
■There will be no changes to this service. Services will be monitored over the coming months to understand the impact due to the introduction of Route 450.
■Subject to further community consultation (which will be advertised locally and on the Transperth website), this route will be modified at a later stage.
■This route will now appear on the new Northern 80 timetable.
Route 390 and 391: Joondalup Station to Banksia Grove - frequency and operating hours upgrade
■Peak period frequency on both routes will improve from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes. In the common sector of both routes, a bus will operate every 10 minutes in peak periods.
■Evening peak shoulder services will improve.
■New early morning and evening services with buses extended to operate as late as 9.30pm from Monday to Friday.
■Weekend service frequency on both routes will improve from 120 minutes to 60 minutes. In the common sector of both routes, a bus will operate every 30 minutes in peak periods.
■Routes 390 and 391 services will depart Joondalup Station from Stand 1.
■These routes will appear on the updated Northern 69 timetable.
New Route 450: Landsdale to Warwick Station via Kingsway City Shopping Centre
■New daily full time service operating between Landsdale and Warwick Station via Kingsway City Shopping Centre.
■Operates every 15 minutes in peak, every 30 minutes off peak and every 60 minutes on weekends.
■Provides residents of Madeley, Darch and Landsdale with a direct connection to the Kingsway City Shopping Centre and the Joondalup train Line at Warwick Station. Services will depart Warwick Station from Stand 6.
■This route will appear on the new Northern 80 timetable.
Route 467: Route extension, route change, frequency and operating hours upgrade Whitfords Station to Joondalup Station
■The 467 will be upgraded to a full time daily service with off peak services replacing the former 469 service through Wanneroo, Hocking and Pearsall.
■Peak period frequency will improve from every 20 to 30 minutes to every 10 to 15 minutes. Peak services will start earlier and run later.
■The service will be extended north to serve Ashby and Tapping on route to Joondalup Station. Residents in these areas will be served by regular public transport for the first time connected to rail at Joondalup and Whitfords and shopping / community facilities in the Wanneroo Town Centre and Joondalup City Centre. Services will depart Joondalup Station from Stand 3.
■The route will be modified to operate a more easterly path through Wanneroo to ensure service is retained for Belgrade Village. Services have been withdrawn from Civic Drive and Celestine Street, however residents in this area are a short distance from the higher frequency 468 service also operating between Whitfords Station and Joondalup Station.
■The route will also be modified to operate a more direct path through Woodvale operating along Woodvale Drive in lieu of Duffy Terrace. This route change will reduce delays incurred turning right onto Whitfords Avenue and speed up the journey across to Whitfords Station.
■This route will appear on the updated Northern 73 timetable.
Route 469: Whitfords Station to Wangara - Route truncation and rationalisation of operating hours
■The 469 will be truncated to only operate between Whitfords Station and Wangara. The route will no longer serve Pearsall, Hocking or Wanneroo as these areas will now be served by the upgraded and more direct 467 service.
■The service will operate Monday to Friday with a 30 minute peak service (previously operated 20 minute to 45 minutes in peak) and every 60 minutes during the day (similar to current level of service). Weekend services have been withdrawn due to extremely poor patronage; however weekend services are retained on Wanneroo Road with the 346 and 468 services.
■This route will appear on the updated Northern 73 timetable.
