Saw your post last night and raised the question on Vicsig http://forums.vicsig.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5508, they said the opening is most likely the same date :)

South Morang opens on this date, as well as changes to Weekend train services across the network.

I believe Cardinia Road and Lynbrook won't be open until October but don't quote me on this.

Interesting, the rumour mill suggests that there may be issues opening on this date, with August suggested as a likely alternative. I've heard both April and August mentioned so I guess we will see...

The reasons cited aren't technical, more to do with staffing.

What station are you referring to above? I can confirm South Morang will open in April.

Twas South Morang. Although I'd like to point out in my defence, Your Honour, that the rumour mill isn't always very accurate...

When I raised the April date with the person, they suggested staffing issues would be a problem. To be fair, their info on driver rostering was fairly accurate (was told just before it appeared in the media), but it may they were wrong on this one. Given that it is just over a month until April and they still seem to have yet to fill many of the station staff positions from what I have been told by a few sources (admittedly from a couple of weeks ago), they may want to get a wriggle on...

More new timetables now online - Routes 841, 843, 845, 849, 861, 900, 924, 925, 926, 927, 928 & 929.

A few observations:
Disappointingly, it would appear that Route 925 (Pakenham - Lakeside) is not being extended just over a kilometre to the new Cardinia Rd Station with this timetable change. The road network is in place to allow this change to happen...

Route 926 (Pakenahm - Fountain Gate via Lakeside) will now operate two new early AM peak shortworkings from Pakenahm to Lakeside & two late PM peak shortworkings back towards Pakenham, but the timetable shows these buses terminating at Lakeside Primary School on Shearwater Dr, rather than Cardinia Rd Station. :? Perhaps there is something delaying running the 926 via The Parkway?

The current 45 minute service on Saturdays on Route 841 is now a more random timetable with varying 40 or 60 minute intervals, presumably to provide consient train-bus transfer times at Narre Warren.

Kind Regards

I'm not sure where you got 24 mins from :? I can't see a single 24 min interval...

Instead of a flat 30 min service between Dandenong & Doveton (spliting out to every 2 hours on each route), they seem to have adjusted some trips so its now a lumpy frequency. The number of trips is the same. I'm not sure why they aren't running a 30 min service on Sundays, meeting every third train on the new 10 min service.

Kind Regards

Revised timetables for the following routes have now appeared online: 556, 558, 559, 561, all beginning 22nd April.

Ivanhoe Bus Company have ALL NEW timetables for each of their routes.
Say goodbye to the good old 'clock face' easy to remember times though... with majority of all timings having been altered (Monday to Sunday).

Of notable change:
Route 549 weekdays- 2 buses now operate first trips out of both Ivanhoe and Northland, so as the 30 mins. frequency can be maintained. Often the one bus trying to do this ran late.
Route 549/550- the hour gap in services between the 2nd last and last services has now been altered to 40 mins.
Route 549/550 weekends- starting and finishing earlier.
Reoute 527- a more 'even' evening service on Saturdays.

Some more - Invicta Routes 663, 664, 670, 671, 672 & 676.

Route 664 now has periods of a bizarre 10-30-10-30 minute frequency between Knox City & Croydon on Saturdays, instead of the current 20 min frequency. :?

The 518 is finally going to an even 40 minute frequency on Saturdays. To keep the same number of services the last trip will be more than 90 minutes later. :D

The 513 is also going to an even 40 minute frequency (80 minutes each for Greensborough and Lower Plenty :() on Saturdays and Sundays, with some fairly substantial time changes. Although the timetable doesn't appear to have been fully updated on the Metlink site yet. :?

There's also a new timetable for the 575 online, although it doesn't appear to have any changes.

New timetable online for 508.
Only change seems to be the interpeak frequency which will now be every 20 minutes instead of the current every 18 minutes.

It would seem that 518 will also be downgraded from 30 mins to 40 mins on Weekdays, although only the timetable towards Greensborough is online at this stage. This would also appear to extend the span of the service about 45 minutes later. The frequency is probably more suitable for the kind of loadings this route gets, but also be harmonised to meet every second inter-peak train. I assume its being done to only require a single bus to operate the service?

Although a service reduction, much better than the current 36 minute service along Bell Street / 72 minutes between Rosanna & Eltham (on each segment), which offers very inconsistent train connections & is basically no more attractive in terms of average waits.

A couple of others also online - 688, 689 & 697.

New timetables for Routes 734, 735, 736, 738, 742 (partly), 753, 755 & 765 are also available.

Various revisions.

754 no longer has a strange 18 minute gap on Sunday evenings ex Stud Park (after roughly an hourly service all day) - the 20:55 trip has been retimed to depart at 21:15.

Kind Regards

It's only a single bus now. The incoming 563 forms an outgoing 518 and vice versa. On weekends the incoming 563 forms a 518 which does two circuits before becoming an outgoing 563. I would hope that this doesn't mean that the 563 also gets a 40 minute frequency. It would make sense in that it connects with every second train and gives scope for extending running times (the current service tends to be late every time I've used it), but given parts of the service do get some use would be a downgrade, especially if the weekend services increase from the already poor 70 minutes to 80.
Although a service reduction, much better than the current 36 minute service along Bell Street / 72 minutes between Rosanna & Eltham (on each segment), which offers very inconsistent train connections & is basically no more attractive in terms of average waits.
Problem is it becomes death by 1000 cuts. Just like the good old days (1990s). In 1992 It was 32/64, now its 36/72 and in April it becomes 40/80. Going back further, the 1986 timetable had services at 20/40 - exactly double the April frequency.

I don't believe route 563 will still exist at that point in time.

^ Certainly not to Greensborough, although I imagine the Northland to Plenty Valley section will exist for at least a while longer. There was talk a while ago of extending it in both directions to run from Hawthorn to Mill Park Lakes, although that might have been put on hold for now.

So you're saying that from April 22 the 563 will be either cut back to South Morang, or no longer exist? Gosh, better get some photos then! What compensation will Dysons get if so? I'd almost accept a 30 minute 566 timed to perfectly alternate with the 902 along Grimshaw St...{wakes up}
There was talk a while ago of extending it in both directions to run from Hawthorn to Mill Park Lakes, although that might have been put on hold for now.
The most recent bus review for inner Banyule suggested the 567 perform the extension to Hawthorn, not the 563. I personally prefer the idea of the 563 doing it, but given the current government seems to be in a holding pattern until the PTDA finds it's feet, I doubt either route will be going to Hawthorn any time soon.
