Yarra Trams routes serving Swanston St & St Kilda Rd have had timetable changes effective from 30 October 2011. Many routes have additional services to the City between about 8.00 & 10.00 on Sunday morning & return between 9.00 & 11.00. There are also other minor timing changes to weekend services.

Although the Metlink & stop timetables have been updated (which is how I found out), I have seen no publicity about these changes on trams or on the Metlink & Yarra Trams websites, and Yarra Trams are no longer producing timetable booklets.

The following info has appeared today on the Yarra Trams website.
Extra Sunday services on St Kilda Road tram routes

Yarra Trams has introduced additional Sunday morning tram services on six St Kilda Road services.

An extra 28 services have been added to St Kilda Routes between 9am and 10.30am, meaning most routes will have a tram approximately every 20 minutes (instead of every 30 minutes).

We hope that improving the frequency of services earlier in the day will encourage you to leave the car in the garage and head out for a day in the city, to the beach or for a picnic in the Royal Botanical Gardens.

Currently more than 30,000 commuters board trams on St Kilda Road every weekend.

Additional Sunday morning services have been added to:
Route 3a (Melbourne University – East Malvern via St Kilda)
Route 5 (Melbourne University – Malvern)
Route 6 (Melbourne University – Glen Iris)
Route 64 (Melbourne University – East Brighton)
Route 67 (Melbourne University – Carnegie)
Route 72 (Melbourne University – Camberwell)

Must have been postponed for a week then. The Metlink timetables still show a start date of 30 October & the stop timetables were in place at the start of last week.
