Onboard notice for passenger consultation regarding some minor re-timings of peak hour Firshermans Bend services from late July:
Interesting that feedback is being sort for what are relatively minor adjustments.
Kind Regards

It is unsual, normally changes like this would just happen. I sometimes wonder why this group of services don't just terminate at Southern Cross Stn rather than doing the Collins, Market & Flinders St loop.

Short answer: there is nowhere to turn around at Southern Cross . The extension to Market Street simply formalises what would have otherwise been an unavoidable not-in-service journey.Mike M wrote:I sometimes wonder why this group of services don't just terminate at Southern Cross Stn rather than doing the Collins, Market & Flinders St loop.

Couldn't they simply loop from Wurundjeri Way via Flinders St, Spencer St, Collins St & Batman Hill Drive back to Wurundjeri Way?Alex on the Bus wrote:Short answer: there is nowhere to turn around at Southern Cross . In theory, yes, however we also have to take into account buses needing to layover between runs, meal breaks, etc. There is nowhere for layovers at Southern Cross.Mike M wrote:Couldn't they simply loop from Wurundjeri Way via Flinders St, Spencer St, Collins St & Batman Hill Drive back to Wurundjeri Way?Alex on the Bus wrote: Short answer: there is nowhere to turn around at Southern Cross . A shorter route could enable a higher service frequency though? These buses sometimes leave people behind at Southern Cross during AM peak periods.

What about the coach terminal?Alex on the Bus wrote:Short answer: there is nowhere to turn around at Southern Cross.

* Firstly, it's not particularly handy for approaches from the south. Remember that access to the coach terminal is via Adderley Street - buses would probably have to run via either Harbour Esplanade or Wurundjeri Way, then Dudley Street, to access it.712M wrote:What about the coach terminal?
* Secondly, operators have to pay a pretty penny to access the terminal, and DoT has shown no interest in covering Metlink operators for access fees to use the terminal.
