30 Years Since Cowper Disaster

Post by Jerram »

Thought I’d get in late to mark 30 years since a Sunliner HiDeck and Semi trailer laden with canned pineapples came together very early in the morning at Cowper north of Grafton.

RIP 21 killed including the truck driver. The coach driver survived.

For those interested in media, here’s an ABC report with links to archived news footage:

And also here’s a link to a page featuring a podcast series being released about the event, done by the local Grafton newspaper.

Thanks for posting.
I've just spent a few quiet minutes thinking of those that died and also those that survived.
I can only imagine how they've all dealt with it over the years, the physical and mental scars.
It happened, it's our history.
I met and spoke a couple of years ago to one of the rescuers from the NSW Railways at the Granville Bold St Bridge collapse.
You could see all those years later that it still haunted him, it was inside him.
