Can anyone find the the pic of the Landseer prototype , it looked more like a high screen mono than Landseer look , Pic was up on here not that long ago.

I thought that Briscoes Adelaide finished up with the prototype - perhaps it was "a prototype. It was a tall coach, with double wheels/tyres on both rear axles.

I am in Hong Kong at present, when I return, I will look up the photos.

I have this prototype coach recorded as Denning unit DA1050-734-84, indicating it was built in 1984 (and in time for the Bus Show that year). I have it recorded as becoming Briscoes UNG043. Numerically the first Denning Landseer was DL1081-765-85, one of the first 2 Landseers completed in June 1985 - this one was for Smekel of Southport (it became 355PIF). Another 36 Landseers were completed between July and December 1985.

Here's the advert in "Truck & Bus" magazine at the time.

Did this coach end up for sale? Who bought it? Where is it now? As it was then it looked like a modified Denair prior to the Landseer model.Did they sell it like this? Someone out there must know.

As I understand it, the first Landseer built on a DL-prefix chassis was 1081, completed in 6/1985. Six Landseers were built on DA-prefix DenAir chassis, though half of them were finished after 1081 was.

They were
1030 to VIP
1050 to Briscoe's - see photo below, it had duals on the tag
1070 to Sunshine Coast Coaches
1075 to Sid Fogg's
1078 to Hornsby
1079 to Krahe's

To answer the original question, I thought the hybrid-looking coach with the DENNING number plate was 1036, modified after trials/development/market research to standard DenAir spec. I can't say for certain though.

The front overhang of the coach in your photo is the standard overhang.The photo I posted shows a longer overhang thats the same as the Denair models.That coach looks like a modified Denair.Even the windows are angled like the Denairs at the time.

My post was a bit unclear. The image I posted was of 1050 to show that it has duals on the tag and is not the coach you asked about.

Sorry about that,bjg154.I misunderstood.
There would have been several Landseers that had dual tyres on the lazy axles too.I've seen several.

Must have missed this comment from Rodd Hood below .... from link of other thread.

No the driver is the chief engineer at Denning Len Bishop.
This coach had the front cut off it and returned back to a Hi Screen Denair of its era prior to its sale.

So we know why its not around , but still the mystery of who ended up with it and if it still survives.

I do recall, years ago, laying eyes on a very early Landseer coach.

From memory, it had a body date of 12/1984, and unusually, had a front mounted radiator, as in, close to the front axle.
