Simple and easy solution and way cheaper is if we stop giving away all our natural gas overseas and have cheaper gas fired mini plants around the country ,
Colongra on the Central Coast can be up and running to full capacity in 20 minutes , has actually been tested
to full capacity in 12 minutes , instead of coal fired which takes 24 hours from start to full load and then sits burning coal when not needed.
Coal fired power station don't have much future here, we generate from wind 10 to 1 compared to solar ,
4000 jobs added this year alone and with the push for more renewables which are now cheaper than expensive coal why would you invest.
New wind farms are being built at a levelised cost of energy at $61-118 per megawatt-hour.
That compared with $74-90 for gas, $78-140 for solar and $134-203 MW-hour for coal-fired plants.

Thanks
Watched insiders this morning and all Labor has to do is say nope and nobody would risk investing in any sort of coal fired power station.
The LNG storage cavern at Botany holds 65,000t so perhaps Malcolm could build a gas fired power station there and ship it from the Prelude when it starts up next year.

Amazing the Shell guy said nothing about the Prelude coming on line within a year and it may be just as cheap to ship LNG in rather than building expensive pipes everywhere and risking our farmland in 100 years when the drill pipes rust.

Not long now and the price will tumble I think
