Denning 40 Foot Coaches On Other Chassis?

Postby Denv12 » Sat Oct 03, 2015 6:09 pm

I saw a 1981 ,40ft Denning motorhome in the "Motorhome & Caravan Trader"(issue 190,page 92,top of page.)It was advertised as a Denning Leyland. I'm aware that the Denning's were available on other chassis' at the time. There was even a 40 ft MAN Denning Denair model too.I dont know how many coaches Denning built using different chassis. Does anyone have any documents relating to the Mono and Denair body and other chassis combos? As for Landseer body on different chassis there were only the Australian Pacific Mercedes/Landseer versions. The Majestic version had options for various chassis.

IIRC Denning was actually owned by Leyland (or probably more correctly JRA) at one stage, so possibly a reference to this, rather than an actual Leyland chassis.

Stretching my memory here without checking first, but I vaguely remember Australian VIP Leisure Tours / VIP Express having a Scania chassis underneath a Landseer body.

Here's one of the ads listing this vehicle.

Denning 40 Foot Coaches On Other Chassis?

There were Albion Vikings that received the same bodywork as the Denning Mono, Australian Pacific being a notable buyer, but that was probably in the early 1970s.

Don't recall and Landseer bodies apperaing on anything else other than Merc O303-3s. Austral Tourmaster bodies appeared on a few Scania K112s, Kogarah Coachlines purchased 4 for Expo 88 services and I think Sunliner Express may have had some. They also appeared on MAN chassis with Kirklands of Lismore having a few.
