Linking Individual posts glitch due to asc/des setting?
In the settings, I've set my posts to be displayed in descending order rather than ascending. Because of this, it seems individual posts links become muddled up. For example, linking this
to a friend redirects them to page 1 of the thread rather than this post.

It would help if you gave us a link if the thread you show -I am not going to waste my time looking for it.
But of course coming from you that would be too much to expect.

Sorry, http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... 34#p927527
For me it links correctly, but not for others who have their posts organised by default in ascending order.

I have done a bit if research into this and from that it would appear that the format of the link you have provided does not work for me even if in the correct sequence so I am not sure what is going on that does make it work for you.

By "correct sequence" are you referring to ascending order? Have you tried descending order?
I don't know how else I am supposed to link specific individual posts other than to just quote the original post, even if it is from an external thread/topic.

http://busaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic ... 93#p927593 this is what a link to an individual post should look like, in this case it is the post directly above mine, by boxythingy.

Thanks I was just about to get to that - his original link firstly had an = missing and then did not have the second post number which is required.

That's strange. I just right click the individual post link and select "copy link location"... then paste it...

Just tested it, and it works for me.

As it's a $_GET string, I'm not surprised.Fleet Lists wrote:Thanks I was just about to get to that - his original link firstly had an = missing and then did not have the second post number which is required.

That's strange. When I right-click and select copy link location and then paste it, exactly like you said you do, I get a different link, which works. I even tried mirroring your board settings - choice of theme, descending posts, etc, etc, etc, etc.boxythingy wrote:That's strange. Your link quoted brings me to the first page no matter what my ascending/descending settings are and also no matter what forum theme I am using, because it is incorrect URL syntax for the forum. I cannot replicate that right-clicking and copying the post link has generated the incorrect post link you provided.boxythingy wrote:Sorry, http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... 34#p927527

Prove to me that is not the case and you shall have my attention.

I hadn't noticed that, but you're quite right. Should be what you put up before.T1200 wrote: Your link quoted brings me to the first page no matter what my ascending/descending settings are and also no matter what forum theme I am using, because it is incorrect URL syntax for the forum.
