Doubling up of posts between pages
Doubling up of posts between pages
Hi all,
Not sure if this has been addressed, but I have very occasionally noticed a doubling up of posts between two pages in a thread (i.e. the last four or five posts on one page are repeated on the next page).
An example that I am seeing at this moment is in the Veolia-Transdev merger thread at the end of page 2 and start of page 3.
Is anyone else seeing this?

Re: Doubling up of posts between pages
I have deleted the four offending posts.
I suspect this has been caused when posts were restored recently and some posts may have been deleted causing a different status of the remaining posts between the times the various posts were restored.
Thanks for pointing this out. I had not noticed it before.

Re: Doubling up of posts between pages
This is not so good - I deleted the SECOND copy of both posts but in fact it deleted BOTH copies of BOTH posts. So unfortunately they are now lost.
And since they were posts which were only done yesterday my theory about the restoration of the files would also not hold.

And worse when I added a note to that thread about the loss of the two posts, that post again duplicated at the bottom of page 2 and the top of page three and when I edit one of the posts the resultant change goes to BOTH posts. Very weird http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewt ... 0&start=50

This doubling up happens on a lot of boards like this, but only recently have I noticed it here.
Its not duplicated posts.

Yes strictly speaking it is not duplicated posts but duplicated links to the one post appearing on two different pages.

Re: Doubling up of posts between pages
After some input from another admin, it appears that my first theory was right to some extent, ie it only happens to older threads where some posts may have been missing pending restoration which confuses the software - It appears there is nothing much we can do about it as removing them deletes both copies.

Re: Doubling up of posts between pages
I noticed that a similar scenario has happened to Private Messages in my inbox (at least). It said I had 140 messages of a maximum of 50!!! I noticed most were repeated twice or three times.

Re: Doubling up of posts between pages
Issue has been Noted.
This only appears to affect older messages. If you delete any of the repeats it deletes them all as there is only one copy of the Private Message Stored.
However i have temporarily trippled the PM limit untill this is rectified , This will allow members who have been affected to continue to receive PM's
