Bus Australia website moving to new web host
Just advising users that this site will shortly be transferred to a new web host (tentatively scheduled for next weekend 20-21 March).
This will involve some outage of the site but we will attempt to keep this to a minimum.
I have already started transferring photo attachments across to the new server. So if you are browsing an old photo thread (prior to 1st Jan 2010) you may receive an error message instead of the photos displaying correctly. This will be corrected when everything is transferred across.

Re: Bus Australia website moving to new web host
As most members would be aware we are now on the new server - however there are still some matters to be resolved:-
Fleet Lists - The information is on the new server but will not display - this is being investigated.
Photo Galley - It is still on the old server and it is currently not possible to upload any additional photos until the photos are moved.

Re: Bus Australia website moving to new web host
I'm getting the odd white page (IE: a page which has no content and any html markings) on the forum from time to time.

Me too, but it's not happening so often now, in fact tonight it hasn't happened at all.Bidgee wrote:I'm getting the odd white page (IE: a page which has no content and any html markings) on the forum from time to time.

Same here. Waiting a few minutes usually turns into an hour...or perhaps all night.soulblade wrote:I use Safari web browser, and I get this message that BA's server has dropped my connection to the server

There is a separate thread on that aspect in the Fleet Lists Admin section which is restricted to to the Fleet List Admins.gen man wrote:The big question remains, when will the fleetlists be fixed & once again able to be updated???

Re: Bus Australia website moving to new web host
I struck the" white screen" again between 5.37pm and 6.06 pm this afternoon.Fleet Lists wrote:Between 8am and 8.20am it was happening all the time to me but have now just got through.
On Firefox I got just a white screen - not the usual messages when connection with a server is lost.
On IR I did get a message that connection with the server was lost but diagnostics I ran did not seem to give a definite answer as to what the problem is.
BUT the server was definitely operating during that time as I had no probles accessing the Bus Australia home or the photo gallery.
So it appears to be a problem isolated to the forum and not encountered with other sections of the Bus Australia website.

Re: Bus Australia website moving to new web host
As response to my posting my previous message, I got the blank screen again.
I also notice that no messages were posted between 5.39pm and 6.14pm which tends to make me think that the problem was hard on between those times and again the same thing after 6.15 to 7.46pm but other parst of Bus Australia were working OK.

I got the white screen (I use Firefox) between approx. 2140 and 2215 this evening.
Metcard. Your ticket to Melbourne.
Re: Bus Australia website moving to new web host
Just about evertime I've tried to log in I get the white screen. I'll get 5-10 minute gaps where it works (in that time I'll type & post & then get the white screen). I don't know if anyone is getting this, but even though my log in settings are saved for each time I have to log in each time now.
Re: Bus Australia website moving to new web host
Same here... frustrating.
(off topic, but I'd just like to say I wish I had found this forum years ago - very enjoyable..)
PS. I use firefox too.

Yes I went off again about 21.40 and gave up for the night.Bus 400 wrote:Just about evertime I've tried to log in I get the white screen. And each time afterwards I have had to sign in again as you mention.
Is it possibly a bandwidth problem as it seems to happen more when more members are logged in.

Thanks for updating us Simes. We appreciate whats going on. Not all of us can obviously see the admin section so its nice that someone can keep us informed on the fleet side of things without constantly needing to make his point.

White screen for me from 6.30 am to about 7.15 am this morning, so probably not a bandwidth issue, I wouldn't have thought...

Re: Bus Australia website moving to new web host
Could be a forum issue or database (MySQL)?
I think phpBB (been awhile since I've operated a web forum) can sometimes have connection issues to the database or MySQL has a limit on the amount of connections to the database but normally the board shows up an error message with a number.
