Re: Remove phpBB logo.
Why? I have huge respect for phpBB for having created an excellent board design and believe that it is appropriate that credit should be given.

What a silly post! All it does is to repeat what you wrote in your first post.aussiept wrote:have a look at this page http://forums.uktrainsim.com/ what i mean is adding bus australia logo in the forum

I dont agree - in the second post he gave a link to further explain what he meant - that link was not present in the original post.Carlisle 8 wrote: What a silly post! All it does is to repeat what you wrote in your first post.
In an earlier version of the board we had our own logo. Unfortunately I do not have the knowledge to change it but I am sure there are others who can do it. And I also feel the desto would be very suitable.

I played around with the page a little bit, and came up with this...
I think it looks good, what do other members think?

Re: remove phpbb logo
I believe this was discussed in another recent topic.
Although it would be nice to have things back to how they were some time ago. It does look bloody good!

To change the logo, easiest way is to log onto the Bus Australia server, and replace the phpBB logo image file with a Bus Australia logo with the same file name.
From right clicking on the phpBB logo, it tells me the file is stored at http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/style ... e_logo.gif
All you need to do then is save a Bus Australia Logo with the filename site_logo.gif and replace the existing file with the new one.

Re: Remove phpBB logo.
I used a similar method to make my "what it would look like" screenshot, replacing the link to the phpBB logo at http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/style ... e_logo.gif to link to http://busaustralia.com/logomobitec.jpg and changing the size from 139x52 to 371x60 (the size of the desto logo).Ryan wrote: Fleet Lists,

So, I changed this:
Code: Select all
<a href="./index.php" title="Board index" id="logo"><img src="./styles/prosilver/imageset/site_logo.gif" width="139" height="52" alt="" title="" /></a>
Code: Select all
<a href="./index.php" title="Board index" id="logo"><img src="http://busaustralia.com/logomobitec.jpg" width="371" height="60" alt="" title="" /></a>
That's how I made my screenshot. I don't know if it would work the same way for someone actually changing the actual page/forum on the server, so all users would view it like that?

Ryan, in the above quote, you attributed what Fleet Lists wrote, to me. I am sure that you did so by mistake, but I should appreciate it, if you would correct the error.Fleet Lists wrote:Carlisle 8 wrote: In an earlier version of the board we had our own logo. I don't see why we really need to. I mean its freeware which is easily installed. I wouldn't care what it showed!

Re: remove phpbb logo
We have had problems in the past when using a logo that is wider than the default phpbb one. It can cause the rendering of the entire page to be messed up and cause users to have to scroll horizontally, especially those with a smaller screen resolution.
I'm happy with the 'desto' logo to be used, so if Fleet Lists has the time and wishes to experiment with implementing it he is more than welcome.

Does it have to be a mobitec?
Can't we at least pick a half decent headboard unit to use, like Hanover or Southport?

If you can supply a Hanover or Southport, I would be happy to use it but while I do not have such, I guess it would be the mobitec one if I do get around to trying it.RailwayBus wrote:Does it have to be a mobitec?

Re: remove phpbb logo
Yes it would be nice if I could do that but I need to do it the other way where I did run into a small problem in that the logo is defined as a gif file while the logo we have is a jpg file and hence I can not rename it to what is required. I will need to think a bit more about that.That's how I made my screenshot. I don't know if it would work the same way for someone actually changing the actual page/forum on the server, so all users would view it like that?

Re: remove phpbb logo
Thanks - that has now been uploaded and is used in prosilver.
A separate change is required for subsilver2 which is similar but I wont do that until after I have had some comments.
I now wont need the one that T1200 has also promised me. One of these days I will learn myslef how to convert form jpg to gif. But too much to do at the moment.
To change the size of the logo would require changes to the code as done in the example above but I dont want to get into that. And as Ken has said we did have problems previously with a larger logo.
In the UK Train example to which a link was supplied above has in fact removed the logo size restriction from the code.

I remember we played with it when we were testing out phpbb3 on my old web hosting and from memory managed to get it working using the same design currently in use.Fleet Lists wrote:Thanks - that has now been uploaded and is used in prosilver.

I should really have another play with it on my new web hosting and see how it all works again .

Re: remove phpbb logo
try replacing this in common.css
with
Code: Select all
#logo {
float: left;
width: auto;
padding: 10px 13px 0 10px;
margin-top: 10px;
}
Code: Select all
#logo {
float: left;
width: auto;
}

Re: remove phpbb logo
I believe it is the width="139" height="52" in the actual code which is causing the problem. That has been removed from the English Train one. And was changed in Busrider's example to width="371" height="60" to give the wider logo.
I dont believe deleting the padding and margin from the css will solve it.
