The first Mercedes-Benz replaced the last of our beloved AEC Regal Mark III half cabs at Redcliffe Depot so some enthusiasts were a bit dark on them. The last Panthers were still virtually brand new, so thoughts of their withdrawal and even Worldmasters, especially the two-doors were not on our minds. In fact, some people were of the opinion that the new European buses were designed for a seven to ten year life in European cities and wondered how they would stand up to the MTT expectations of a twenty year life! And just think how 475, 483 etc have given thirty years plus.
Anyhow, with comments about how young many of you were when the shots of 157 were taken makes it reassuring to know there is a younger generation of enthusiasts out there to keep the hobby or interest in buses going when older generations have passed on. Somebody will need to take carriage of the BPSWA collection in years to come.
