www.perthbus.info website suspended!

Postby route171 » Fri Jul 22, 2011 2:52 pm

The site http://www.perthbus.info has been suspended!
When I navigate to the page, it redirects to http://www.perthbus.info/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi, saying the webpage has been suspended!
Is it just me, or others experiencing this problem as well?
Took a screenshot, at 12:48 PM on 22 July 2011.

This must be why "Herberts" photos are no longer showing up in the WA Photo Gallery.

The matter is being investigated. It is possible that this is the result of a denial-of-service attack.

Yes, this is good news!
I cannot find any reason whatsoever for the web-hoster to have suspended the site (an action which has caused no small amount of incovenience since I & others use email addresses associated with the site).
I just hope this isn't going to be another hoster who doesn't like the site's popularity & renegs on a so-called "unlimited" deal...

Must have been a cost issue as to why no others bar the few ever got these, they really dress these buses up!

Those Bruce Harris shots of 157 with its chromium plated front bumper posed at East Perth on 21st May 1977 bring back fond memories. I was with Bruce thta day. Must delve into the slide boxes and see if I have one with him in it. I seem to recall we did the unusual thing for transport enthusiasts of the day - took some photos with people in them.

The first Mercedes-Benz replaced the last of our beloved AEC Regal Mark III half cabs at Redcliffe Depot so some enthusiasts were a bit dark on them. The last Panthers were still virtually brand new, so thoughts of their withdrawal and even Worldmasters, especially the two-doors were not on our minds. In fact, some people were of the opinion that the new European buses were designed for a seven to ten year life in European cities and wondered how they would stand up to the MTT expectations of a twenty year life! And just think how 475, 483 etc have given thirty years plus.

Anyhow, with comments about how young many of you were when the shots of 157 were taken makes it reassuring to know there is a younger generation of enthusiasts out there to keep the hobby or interest in buses going when older generations have passed on. Somebody will need to take carriage of the BPSWA collection in years to come.

Joe, get in there now. Every family man with an inspiring career needs the challenge and intellectual stimulation of playing a role in a volunteer run transport enthusiast group. It provides a good balance between home, family and work. Been there, done that for 40 years - and the wife and kids still talk to me. There are many tasks for these organisations that can be done from home for an hour or two after the kids have gone to bed. You could go to the State Reference Library for half an hour in the lunch break on days when not taking the bus shots in the CBD and research the MTT tender papers to find out why Mercedes-Benz got the contract in 1975 and Renault in the 1980's.

Well, that is a great idea dennis96, when there is nothing left to photograph in my lunchbreak, I'll get onto it. Although I work so close to the state library, I may have to put the photography on hold, seeing as though I will only be in Northbridge for another 10 months or so......hmm, leave it with me!
