What Layout do you want for the Photo section? Please vote
As most users will be aware, we have been trialling sub-forums in the Photo section.
Some users love it, some don't. A slight variation was put in place yesterday putting the NSW and ACT photo sections as 'forums' rather than 'sub-forums'. Have a look at the forum home page to see how each looks and works.
Please vote in the poll to have your say in which way the forum goes.

Does this poll have a closing date? Could the admin team be looking for a particular result? It seems strange to me that only when the polling went over 50% to keep the forums together, a minor change was made (making the board NSW-centric) and a fresh poll created.

Re: What Layout do you want for the Photo section? Please vote
Separate forums for each State looks neater in the layout than having them as Sub-forums squashed in the small space to list them.
Whether it goes separate or sub in the end is a great idea and eliminates the need to put the State coloured icon in the subject heading as the pics will already be in their own State.

If it is carried for the Australian domestic states, then how about something similar for the Overseas Section along the lines of
[EMEA] - Europe, Middle East and Africa
[ASPAC] - Asia-Pacific ex Aus/NZ of course
[AMERICAS] - North and South America

Definately the first option, as how NSW/ACT appear, not how Vic/Qld/SA/WA appear.

I hope not Mr Obsessed. It may confuse some who voted NO last time into picking which of the new options is the 'least worst' one. If you voted NO last time, vote OPTION 3 this time.mrobsessed wrote:Does this poll have a closing date? Could the admin team be looking for a particular result?
EDIT: I've just noticed that the old vote has been deleted. I haven't checked it for quite a few days, can we have the results re-instated?mrobsessed wrote:It seems strange to me that only when the polling went over 50% to keep the forums together, a minor change was made (making the board NSW-centric) and a fresh poll created.
Cast your votes and make your voice heard.
Bring back the old Photo section!
Enjoy.

When the other poll closed it was 52% in favour of sub-forums and 48% in favour of the previous set up.

Photos all in one is much clearer and easier to locate plus the state tags and titles provide sufficent information as to wether or not they are of interest before I chose to open them.
Sub forums are annoying and make a simple task annoyingly long.

Less is sometimes more. . .
I think multi forums are XXX and time consuming and make me less inclined to search and experience the full potential of this forum and members postings
Bring back the old please.

I guess one issue with State forums is that people may want to post by other subjects - i.e Leyland Leopards, odd single door conversions, Lewis Bros boides, buses in the rain etc etc which could be cross state topics.

The general section would remain for those types of posts.

The original pic section was ideal for a quick browse , if it's changed many good pics are going to be unseen............

HERE!! HERE!! I personally have lost interest since the change. Me personally, used to look on the forum DAILY just to check ALL NEW posts. Now it's time consuming, and you only see the last reply NOT the last post until you open each sub-forum. (my opinion only, BUT please bring the old system)BoBoJenkins wrote:Photos all in one is much clearer and easier to locate plus the state tags and titles provide sufficent information as to wether or not they are of interest before I chose to open them.

Thanks for letting us know. It looks like the "NO" crowd are getting a 2nd chance here.Andrew wrote:When the other poll closed it was 52% in favour of sub-forums and 48% in favour of the previous set up.

I'm not sure where to vote, personally I enjoy seeing the pics from the past - maybe we could have a separate section for that? And a free for all for the present day stuff????

Let's have some common sense and go back to the original forum idea, as nearly everyone in favour of keeping it has stated, you saw instantly on that first page everything that had been posted since your last visit and you could select the items that would interest you with just one click.
It has also been pointed out that photos that may have a cross border theme may also be missed by some.

Keep it as it was originally.
Or, is it possible to make it so everyone posts in the one forum, and the thread also appears in a sub forum according to the coloured tag?
i.e. if someone makes a thread and puts the blue NSW icon in with it, it will appear in a seperate place with the other posts with NSW icons.
If it was this way, everyone can check Sydney/NSW if they just want that, but they can still go through and see ALL new posts without missing any

Re: What Layout do you want for the Photo section? Please vote
I'm happy with either options 1 or 3 - I have actually voted for option 1 myself, and if I had anything to do with things I'd have three sections for Photos, Discussion and Timetable Updates divided as thus:
* General and/or Federal
* ACT
* NSW
* VIC
* QLD
* SA
* WA
* TAS & NT
* New Zealand (no timetables)
* Overseas (no timetables).
Just a thought.

We still do not have an answer from any of the Admin team regarding the duration of this poll. Can any member of the admin team please tell us when this poll will finish?
Thanks in advance.

Bring back the single forum
Is there still a vote involved? -- I can't find anything that accepts a vote. Is this because I already voted the first time round?
Anyway, as I said in the first poll, a single listing of all photos is best. Since the change-over I haven't bothered to check photos every day like I used to because it's too much of a hassle. (Even though I originally boasted that I'm smart enough to handle any system. Obviously I'm not!)
If I could vote now I'd vote as I did originally -- for a single forum (Option 3). The case for this option has been very well argued by its supporters in recent posts.

You should be able to vote at the top of this thread but if you have already posted in this thread you will not be able to do so again but instead see what the results are to date.
