Do the 17 SB's Ventura had include the 3 obtained with the aquisition of Reg Carter's fleet System Improver? They became No's 55 (GJM ???), 56 (GLO 131) & 57 (GYX 102). 55 & 56 had functioning destinations, on 57 the desto glass was painted black and there were no "innards". It had a 4 sided wooden block fixed on the lower left side of dash board as it's desto. 57 was the last bus purchased by Carter. Do you know the origins of these 3 prior to Carter, I've been told either 55 or 56 came from Benders. The "GYX" registration of 57 seems as though it probably wasn't the original registration.

Yes. Ventura purchased 13 flat screens new (15-19, 21,22, 24-29) and 4 second hand (23 from ex WA in 1956) and the three (55-57) from Carter on 3/9/64. Both GJM 166 and GLO 131 were new to Benders (8/55 and 2/56 respectively) and were sold to Jenkins 7/59 and 7/60 respectively. Carter acquired the service and vehicles from Jenkins later in 1960. GYX 102 was new to Murray Valley Coaches in late 1956 and was probably on SA plates. It was acquired by Hoy's of Wangaratta 5/59 when it was registered as GYX 102. It was sold to Carter in 1964. Numbers 55 and 56 were sold 11/67 and 5/68 to SA and number 57 went to Tasmania in 1969.
