Fantastic shots, as usual! Bliss for a rear-steer fetishist. The first shot, of 1701, is spectacular & shows the geometry of the two steerable axles beautifully. Thanks!

I thought the rear whel was just ready to fall off!
Or that the driver had hit a gutter and bent it out of alignment.

Is the turning circle difference quite noticable with rear steer?

Re: 3 axle vehicles from Brisbane
The tag axle serves 2 purposes. It steers of course, but doesnt assist all as much as one would think it would like on a mid powered artic. Its moreso to relieve forces on the tag when turning, these forces tend to want to move the axle left or right when turning a corner and aswell as to prevent the tyres on said axle from scurbbing out quickly, from being basically 'dragged' across the road. For example: Hornibrooks 14.5's would go through a lot more tag axle tyres, and would require more maintainence on said axle from considerable more lateral forces being applied to them vs BT's steerable ones.Grenda Driver wrote:Is the turning circle difference quite noticable with rear steer?

Hi All,
I like what they have done at Roma St, walk straight off the XPT onto a bus. I'll have to visit to check it out for myself.
