Quite lovely. But I am just wondering what location are these pictures being taken at?
Payback is a bitch, but is fun to watch.

Could be wrong on some (or even most) of these, but I'd be guessing:
1) Northbourne Avenue between London Circuit & Barry Drive
2) Old Parliament House
3) looks suspiciously familiar, but not sure where - unless it is an old version of the Target Carpark in Civic in the background?? (or Woden??)
4) I'd guess is at the National Gallery
5) I suspect is Jolimont centre
6) Looks totally unfamiliar to me - I'd guess it's somewhere in Country NSW
7) Reminds me of Fyshwick, but could be anywhere
8) I initially thought Convention Centre, but am starting to think it may be some hotel....

The pics must come from 1989 - 91. I did school work experience with Murrays in 1990. Those ex-Deluxe Tourmasters came up so well in Murray's livery.
I think [397] was the "Canberra - Love it!" coach;
[103]mo 29 was the Wollongong coach;
The 0 303 Merc/Denning (Can't remember the fleet no) was a corporate coach.
PD4107s were still used on half and full day City Sights, Volvo B58s on the Canberra Explorer (which was what the Wollongong driver was probably doing when the pic of 103 was taken) and AEC Reliances and Swifts were still used on Murray's school runs.

The pic of 397 looks to have been taken in the coach parking area behind the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Thanks Venturatiger!

Thanks Venturatiger!

These were originally acquired for the CBR-SYD Express services. I think numbers around 299-301.

If memory serves me right, Murrays aquired a couple of of 0302 vehicles with the takeover of Canberra Cruises and Tours who previously took over the original Bosnjaks Coach operation years ago (remember the imitation Denning that they built at Smithfield?). I'm wondering if the 0302 here is one of those vehicles, if it is then it's real history for me because I was on one of those coaches as a sixth grader on a school snow trip. For the record also, the year before I was on the old fake Denning that Bosnjaks had on a two day Hunter Valley trip when it broke down, it got started on the 2nd morning and stalled, wouldn't restart. The driver that we had on both trips was a guy named Alan. This will probably get Boronia thinking!

Oh dear; here I was hoping for a quiet night and Peta has throw in questions like that :shock:

My memories of the CCT days are quite vague. I think Murrays got about 6 coaches and the ferries in the deal, there may have been an O302 or two, but most probably locally bodied versions. Most of the CCT vehicles were sold off when they got the 4107s from Ansett, possibly except a Tourmaster. Murrays paid big money to get CCT, so he could get the TV plates, then about 18 months later the Govt deregulated and they were worth nothing.

The O302s like in the picture came later, about 1983-4, when Murrays started the Discover Sydney day tours, although one was done in Thomas Cook livery. There were 5 or 6, I think most of these came from AAT-Kings.

Alan was a shortish, fat guy with a Crew cut?? He stayed with Murrays till the late 90s, until he retired with health problems.

Yeah that was Al alright, a really top guy too! Thanks for the reply and sorry about the quiet night too. I'm fairly sure that the Mercs that we went to the snow in were Manheim bodied ones but in any case though, great memories.

Good on you B, I knew that you'd come through!
