G'day all,

Here's a recording of Mercedes-Benz O 405/Volgren (1050) from yesterday.

Download: http://home.iprimus.com.au/davidkhl/tp1050.mp3

And before anyone asks, it's NOT an O 305!!!

Regards,
Dave

Crikey! It does sound like an O305. At first I thought it had a gearbox change, but the more I listen to it it's got the right box, but the retarder sounds different.

Do any of the other Perth O405s have the o305-sounding hubs? It is amazing to listen to with that throaty growl of the OM447h and the smooth, soothing sound of the hubs, I wish all O405s sounded like that! O305 MkIV 3064 is similar to this bus as it is an O305 but you could swear the engine in it is an OM447!

1042-1053 in Perth all sound like that with varying quality hub noises. I believe they are unique in Australia because they have a different rear axle spec and also they have 179kW engines as opposed to the usual 150kW or 184kW.

Dave

cool. The Transperth Lowliners seem to rip it along quite well. Never slow for anything

Could of fooled me in some sections of the recording whereas others are distinctly O405, either way I enjoy both so it was a great recording :)
