Gee, these are really fantastic photos, so clear and in colour!

Blue skies in Brisbane and yet the clouds were gathering.

I hope you have plenty more to share. Thanks for posting.

These colour tram photos around Brisbane are good, thanks for posting.

I like the old Tritton's (a Queensland iconic furniture store back in those days) add on the railway bridge at Buranda too, this bridge has long been replaced with a concrete one however the low height issue has never been improved all.

The pic of 509 is heart-breaking - the location is virtually the same today with that great retaining wall and not a lot of tall stuff behind up towards the Valley.

What a bloody waste of a fantastic public asset. The only thing more depressing is the thought that Clem shuffled off before trams ever returned, with his 'victory' complete.

and its the twisting roads, massive randomly patterned stone retaining walls, water in the distance, steep hills that make its streetscape magical in a way (that lasted only five more days after those pictures were taken) that not possible with buses and gridlocked traffic and had brisbane keeped its trams for a few more years it might had survived because of the 1973 oil crisis
2008 forest routes...

there are still more losers than winners...

escaping the esplanade mountain still takes 20 minutes every day so give us back our esplanade service !!!!!!!

Brisbane. Of all the Cities in the world that should have retained its trams, Brisbane IS the one. I hope the road lobby and the mongrel politicians go to their graves regretting their filthy deeds!

Pity there are 2 of these locations that have totally changed since then. The fact that where the trams are in Queen St is now the only entrance into the Queen St Bus Stn, and the tram along Woolongabba outside the pub is no longer a thru road. However that part of the Gabba, and also Logan Rd just up the road still retains much of the old streetscape. Walking down there in the late afternoon makesyou think what it may of been like when trams were running up and down the street

The Pub ( Broadway Hotel ) in the 2nd pic has suffered major internal damage from a fire approx 3 weeks ago..
It will need to be rebuilt, though luckily, the Facade has escaped major damage and should remain..
