[NSW & WA] Some more unknown deckers
Can't for the life of me recall where I took these first 2 photos. Thought of Hills Bus Sales in Wollongong but then I didn't think they had any dealings with the ex Perth MTT vehicles. Any info appreciated to fill the void in identifying these deckers:
And a couple of unknown ex Sydney DGT deckers:
I think from memory this one sat for many years on a property at Katoomba, but has now gone.
Looks like this Leyland spent some time as a promo vehicle for Cumberland Wholesalers. caught here on the side of the road in Seven Hills about mid 1970's.

I can't find TC390 in my records, but I have a hunch that the deckers are ex-Plymouth Atlanteans, imported in 1984. Some others were sighted at Allspares in Belmont WA during July 1984, soon after a proposed overseas deal (China?) involving 50 ex-MTT buses fell through. These buses went to Allspares as well.
Amongst them was former 449, which was sighted in a dealer's yard in Penrith in September 1984. This featured a few months ago on another thread as being at Katoomba-Leura & was re-bodied by Custom Coaches, still around as MO4008.
The Worldmasters & at least one AEC Regal VI in your photo would be amongst those buses in the failed sale - evidenced by the fact that they still carried the MTT arrowhead and route number blinds, but lost their MTT logos, fleet nos & destination blinds.

Excuse me Mr Wilson, I lived in Waverley, the haven for AEC Deckers. If I was picking up my lay-byed 9/6 Dinky Toy 290 series double decker, which was way out of my price range. (With my pocket money all I could buy were Matchbox toys at 2/6), I would have paid 6d on the 390 from Gibson St, Waverley (almost always an AEC Decker), sometimes an AEC underfloor, to Park St and then walked to Anthony Hordens. I would have used a 10/- or £1 note to pay for my Dinky Toy.

I remember traveling on what may have been an Albion on a 302 to Dolls Point. I remember it was a manual transmission bus and not a preselector as fitted to AEC Deckers.

The two Atlanteans look exactly like the pair that ended up at Bowman's Coaches in Goulburn NSW.

Hi all,
Does anyone know what happened to these 2 Atlanteans? I rode to school on these every day in Plymouth and would like to trace them, and any other ex-Plymouth Atlanteans in Australia. Any info much appreciated.

I intended correcting my previous post ages ago but forgot: these two ex-Plymouth Atlanteans are at Allspares (Belmont WA). TC381 was definitely ex Plymouth City Transport 228 (JJY628G). Here is a pic I took of it's rear end through the fence at Allspares' yard in Belmont (Alexander Rd / Robinson Av) in July 1984. TC390 poses more of a mystery though. I have a notation on my Tourwest list that it operated for that concern along with TC381. However, there are question marks alongside the pencilled notation, so the info was not certain enough to be written in pen. Indications are that TC390 was former Plymouth City Transport 231 (JJY631G) - again this is unconfirmed. The 12/08 issue of AB&CV Heritage featured a list (Table 6 on pages 13-18), albeit riddled with several errors, of known double-deckers imported from Britain. That list mentions PCT 231 as having gone to Tourwest in Belmont WA (affiliated with Across Australia Coachlines, iirc) along with 228 (TC381), but does not give any rego for 231. Unfortunately, the same source mistakenly states that PCT 222 passed from AAT in Sydney to Tourwest in WA in 1985 and was registered TC381, then went to Boat Torque Cruises in 1987 as TC547 !!Herbert wrote:... these two ex-Plymouth Atlanteans are at Allspares (Belmont WA). Can anyone help re TC390?
Just to clarify, Allspares in Belmont WA had some association with All Spares / Truck Imports in Silverwater, NSW, although I'm not sure just how they related.
Also, the 13 ex Plymouth City Transport units imported in 07/83 (NSW) and 02/84 (WA) were all Park Royal bodied Leyland Atlanteans new in May and June 1969. None had Alexander bodies.

Im a member of the Plymouth City Transport Preservation Group and we are looking to preserve buses with a Plymouth Connection can anyone tell me if any of the former Pct Park Royal JJY/G registered Atlanteans still survive in Australia currently
